About
I am interested in the emerging field of biodiversity informatics: how we use technology to improve the way we study the biosphere. My work focusses on systems for collecting, analysing, curating and publishing data in novel ways, including the use of Arduino, Raspberry Pi, sensor networks, Scratchpads and the Biodiversity Data Journal.
I also study the orthopteroid insect orders (polyneoptera), in particular the stick and leaf insects (phasmida) and the cockroaches (blattodea) and work on tools for automating the identification and monitoring of grasshoppers and bush crickets using automated acoustic recognition.
