Marriage is a covenant relationship modeled after God's covenant with his people. Covenants involve intimate, committed relationships and binding promises between parties. God instructs his people not to intermarry with those from other nations, to remain separate and faithful to the covenant. Similarly, marriage covenants are to be lifelong, exclusive unions reflecting the love and faithfulness of God to his people.
