What we’ve done:
• Built a website that summarizes and compares
available solutions http://standardisites.harvard.edu
• Gathered accurate data about the scope of the
migration
• Established a working group with DCE, FAS, GSE, GSD,
HDS, HKS, HLS, and HSPH
• Identified candidates from CA, FAS and schools for
early migration projects and started migrations
• Documented issues around iSites migration and started
working on solutions
3
What we’re doing now:
• Defining a Charter or Logic Model that clearly states goals,
objectives, user requirements and success
• Establishing governance with a Steering Committee who
will help resolve issues and assess risk factors
• Entering data into SalesForce for tracking and reporting
migrations and identifying resource needs
• Documenting gaps in features and functionalities and
promote enhancements that will fill those gaps
• Providing consulting and support for migrating sites to the
appropriate platforms
4
What’s next:
• Identify all iSites that will not be migrated and retire
them by June 2015
• Complete all early migration projects by June 2015
(although some might not launch until the summer)
• Design and distribute reports from SalesForce to all
schools and departments
• Develop solutions that will simplify migrations

Editor's Notes

  • #8: (timeline builds across to match bullets) Started with small pilot in Fall 2013 (6 courses total, 4 FAS) Larger pilot in Spring 2014 (25 FAS courses) For this fall, faculty could request a Canvas site through ATG (234 courses did, or about 16%) For the spring (as of 1/28), faculty or their designates can create their own Canvas site (418 have so far, about 30%) For Fall ‘15, we propose to create Canvas sites by default, with iSites available by request and for content migration By Fall ‘16, Course iSites will no longer be an option for FAS courses (though still available in read-only fashion for content retrieval)
