JAWS for Windows is an assistive technology screen reader that uses synthesized speech to read information on a computer screen aloud. It allows blind students to receive information from the screen and interact with and work in a computer environment using easy to use keystroke commands. For students who are both blind and deaf, JAWS also provides Braille output. JAWS is compatible with many common programs and can read text from PDF files, application setup screens, and DVD menus using its convenient OCR feature.
