It all started in Tokyo, in 1998.
I was in a bar, digging into a plate of fried squid legs. I looked at the Toyota marketing executives sitting across from me and said, "You know, I think this Internet thing is going to stick around for a while."
My brilliant prophecy (certainly, this hadn't occurred to anyone else!) started an all-night discussion in broken Japanese (mine) and broken English (theirs) about the emerging role of online content and visual storytelling to build audience and drive engagement,
