Gilgamesh And The Epic Of Gilgamesh
The maturation of Gilgamesh and his desire to acquire wisdom throughout his journey is quite
apparent. By overcoming difficulties such as upholding Uruk, becoming friends with Enkidu, and
various other scenarios, Gilgamesh proves that he did in fact grow up throughout the epic. As the epic
starts, Gilgamesh is portrayed as a self centered, self admiring leader who believes that he is the only
individual that can lead the city of Uruk. Gilgamesh believes that he is a god like figure and often
refers to himself as one. He believes that he is above everyone else in the city of Uruk. For example,
in the epic there is a scene where Gilgamesh enters the city of Uruk, the epic describes the scene as;
He entered the city of Uruk the Town Square, and a crowd gathered around. He came to a halt in the
street of Uruk the Town Square, all gathered about, the people discussed him (15). This quote is a
good example of how Gilgamesh expected those around him to respect and look up to him as a god
like figure. He did not lead the city of Uruk humbly; he wasn t a leader who strived to feel like a
normal citizen of the city. Instead, Gilgamesh felt that he was entitled to more privileges than the
average person. Early on in the epic, Gilgamesh is described as a tall, magnificent and terrible, who
opened passes in the mountains, who dug wells on the slopes of the uplands, and crosses the ocean,
the wide sea to the sunrise (2). This demonstrates how selfish Gilgamesh truly was, and how all

It was a large building with several colonnaded stories that looked out over the Forum Romanum.
From the Forum you can still clearly see the remains of the lower floor of the Tabularium, now
situated below the Palazzo Senatorio.
The Middle Ages
During the exile of the popes in Avignon Rome became depopulated and the Capitoline Hill was even
used as a goat pasture, which gave it the name Monte Caprino (goat mountain). By the sixteenth
century the Renaissance brought a revival of Rome s grandeur and with it a complete redesign of its
heart, the Capitoline Hill. In 1536 Michelangelo drew up plans for a new square between the two
hilltops, the Piazza del Campidoglio.
The Capitoline Hill Today
Today only traces of the ancient temples are visible. Instead a huge nineteenth century monument built
for Italy s first king dominates the north slope.

undoubtedly the beautiful Piazza del Campidoglio, masterfully designed by Michelangelo. It can be

The Positive Aspects Of Stereotypes
In todays world everyone has their own stereotypes, whether they are positive stereotypes of negative
stereotypes. They can also be true or false in a sense of being rational and just being ignorant.
Stereotypes are used today to give groups an image of what most people claim for that group to be
like. Normally when someone is referring to or using the word stereotype they are referring to a
collective, professors are smart, firemen are fearless, etc. Humans are around unfamiliar areas or
groups they are uncertain about; they tend to use the little knowledge that exists to themselves to
reduce uncertainty about the situation. To a lesser degree one knows about the situation the more
stereotypical thoughts are made and used. Simple auto stereotype is the term referred to when
referring to members of a nationality. Thoughts on this is idea is that everyone will have their own
thoughts and ideas with other groups. Knowing less about different nationalities is the reason for
stereotype thoughts towards them. I am from a small town called Perry, Georgia and here numerous
amount of Indians own gas stations throughout town. The. Stereotype the community created for the
Indian gas station is that they are cheap. The Indian gas stations have all the cheap snacks, drinks, they
even sell a cheap generic brand of ibuprofen. The fact we as a community do not know much about
their race and that they have cheaper prices for snacks and drinks we use stereotype to help with the
uncertainty in the situation. The Five Factor Model (FFM) was started because trait approaches had
become exceedingly important in understanding the relationship between culture and personality. This
is why the Five Factor Model is the dominant view in society today. These five dimensions are
conscientiousness, neuroticism, extraversion, openness to experience and agreeableness. Many
premature studies have provided support for the cross cultural validity of the Five Factor Model. Allik
and McCrae (2004) made it be visible that the personality traits were not related to a geographic
location, but, geographically recognized historically close cultures had more similar personality
profiles. In the end the results to date provide strong

Grendel As A Hero Essay
The Old English epic Beowulf is the earliest recorded poem in Old English. The story is set in
Scandinavia with the antagonist Grendel. Gendel is a monster and an insensitive character. Grendel
was born into a monster and was cursed his entire life. Although Grendel was strong he wasn t very
brave because he only attacks at night when the guards are asleep. He has many characteristics that a
monster would have. First and foremost, he was raised to be evil, and never had the chance to be good.
Also whenever he would hear joy, he would be filled with anger and hatred. Grendel likes killing
people he doesn t feel any remorse after killing people. An example from the story that shows this is
Snatched up thirty men, smashed them unknowing in their beds and out with their bodies (Genesis,pg
4). Talking about Grendel ties in with our next evil antagonist known as Cain. Cain is the son of Adam

celebrating and being joyful and that jealousy made him kill many innocent people. Cain killed Abel
out of jealousy and was cast away. They both don t feel remorse after killing. An example that showed
that Cain didn t feel any remorse The man who killed his brother cares only for himself. He doesn t
express even the tiniest twinge of remorse, contrition, or repentance( Saxon,pg 42). Another similarity
between Grendel and Cain would be selfishness. They both didn t have concern for others didn t have

Massey Energy Company should be held morally responsible for the deaths of the 29 miners. The U.S.

The agency was understaffed and its inspectors were overworked. Also, the week before the mine
explosion, half of the agency s inspectors failed to attend required training courses and the agency
neither kept track of their attendance nor did it sanction them. Not only that, but the company can t
shut down a mine unless the total violations of these coal mine companies are above the level needed
to force its closure. Most of the coal mine companies challenged MSHA s citations and corrected
enough of the significant violations so they fall below the shut down level. This is irresponsible on
MSHA s side. Thy should enforce a tighter and stricter rules when it comes to violations. MSHA
should not just imposed fines on the company but they should be more stern when it comes to safety
violations by the company. Also, waiting until there is too much violations by the company to close
the mines will endanger the lives of the miners. When people lives are on stake, MSHA surely are not
up to the standard of that task.
Question 4
The miners had some idea of the risks of working in the Upper Big Branch mine however that is not
enough for them to be held any responsibility for their own deaths. Don Blankenship had released a
memo to the managers specifically stating to ignore wasting time responding to requests to fix things.
Managers then would be afraid to object to Don Blankenship requests since they could get fired.

Analysis Of The Midnight Assassin
Terror is in Town The subject of the book The Midnight Assassin by Skip Hollandsworth is focused on
uncovering the truth behind who is truly at fault for the murders of Mollie Smith and, several other
victims. The murders occurred in Austin, Texas during the 19th century. Based on the first three
chapters, three prominent characters have been introduced. All three characters are currently prime
suspects. At the time, Austin was a prestigious town, equipped with the finest law enforcement made
first hand by god himself, the Texas Rangers. When the young yellow skinned slave Mollie Smith was
murdered, terror truly struck Austin. News reporters from all over Texas came to cover the story, thus
creating conspiracies about each suspect. Evaluation of each suspect and their motives to perpetrate
such a gruesome murder Walter Spencer, a hardworking slave, who had never done any harm; Tom
Chalmers, the brother of the land owner where the murder took place; Lastly, Dr. Ralph Steiner, the
esteemed doctor. Evaluation of the first suspect, is Walter Spencer. Walter Spencer is a hardworking
African American slave. Spencer is the prime suspect within the investigation of Mollie s murder.
Walter Spencer could possibly be the killer because after he visited Dr. Stiner s house he disappeared.
Spencer was closest to Mollie, he was her boyfriend at the time and shared the same sleeping quarters
the night of her murder. Spencer was the first to report that Mollie s body was missing.

Concussions in Hockey Essay

Concussions In Hockey
The sport of hockey is an intense test of power and will, and as a result of the injuries in sport are
common realities that players and coaches are faced with. Among these injuries are concussions,
arguably the worst injury of all. A significant blow to the head that causes the brain to shake in the
skull and sometime even swell causes a concussion. These serious and sometimes life threatening
injuries have always been a part of hockey, and up until a few years ago, little was being done to
combat the cause. Although great strides have been made to help athletes recover from a concussion,
the question arises, why are hockey players so susceptible to these terrible head injuries in the first
place? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like all sports, the ability to think the game and mentally prepare is arguably the most important
aspect. After suffering a concussion, players often explain to doctors and trainers feelings of
cloudiness and the inability to think without distraction. As a result this can lead to a decrease in major
areas that directly correlate to player performance.
The NHL implemented a new policy for in game concussion testing. During a game, a player that is
suspected of having a concussion will be removed from the game and sent to a quiet place free from
distraction so the on site team physician can examine them. The physician will then apply the SCAT
(Sports Concussion Assessment Tool) test to evaluate the player, and determine whether or not he has
been concussed. In the past, players were simply assessed on the bench by the team s trainer. If it is
determined that the hockey player has indeed suffered a concussion, the player is immediately sent for
observation and testing at a hospital or private clinic. Rest is recommended and athletes are not
allowed to return to game play until they are symptom free. There are however, certain steps to be
followed upon a player return to practice and game play. The following is a mandatory 6 step process
used by trainers, physicians and coaches to determine the readiness of a player who has suffered a
concussion.
Step 1: No activity, only complete rest. This means no work, no school, and no physical activity.

Farm As An Allegory In George Orwell s Animal Farm
An author who has been praised though the years for his revolutionary ideas and works, George
Orwell has written everything from poems to essays. He liked uncovering hidden truths; consequently,
doing it by writing political works like Animal Farm. On the surface George Orwell s novel Animal
Farm is about a group of neglected animals who overthrow their owner and take control of the farm.
However, under the surface this novel is an allegory detailing the events of the Russian Revolution.
The author s use of anthropomorphism and common diction lead us to believe he intended the novel to
be read by the everyday man or lay person. The novel is written as warning to readers within its
central theme that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Orwell uses stylistic
devices (such as symbolism and irony) and tone (hope twisted to despair) in Animal Farm to tell the
tragic tale of animal rebellion at Manor Farm. The author wrote this novel in response to his opinion
of the Russian Revolution; he wanted to consciously use political and artistic purpose in the book to
talk to the people. Ultimately, Orwell effectively fuses his political and artistic purpose into a single
powerful work of art in his short novel Animal Farm.
One of Orwell s works that could help us analyze and understand his intent for Animal Farm is his
essay Why I Write . George Orwell s essay Why I Write is about the evolution of Orwell s style of
writing from a child to the time when written and how his opinions on writing have changed. Perhaps
the author wrote Why I Write because he wants to help explain to the world how Animal Farm was
written and the thought process behind it. Orwell s intended audience for this work is writers and
readers of his books. Writers would be interested as it gives advice and his beliefs on writing, but his
readers would be interested because it talks about his books more in depth and his purpose. The
narrator in this essay is the author himself and it is in first person describing events and his
thoughts/emotions. Orwell used some stylistic devices in Why I Write but the main two that are
showcased are rhetoric and analogies. Overall, the tone throughout the entire work is reflective but in

Persuasive Essay On Winter Blues
When the cold weather comes around, it s easy for the winter blues to take effect. With snow on the
ground, ice on the windshield, and below freezing temperatures to battle with throughout the day,
most people just want to get getaway from it all and for good reasons too. If you haven t felt it yet, it
might important to note that: the winter blues typically sets in right after the holidays, when it s time
to take down your Christmas decoration, get back to work, take care of kids, and prepare yourself for
the upcoming year. That s because the vast majority of people find that winter is an extremely difficult
time of year to gather the strength to feel joy and excitement about practically anything. Fortunately, a
visit to any of your favorite warmer climate destinations will have you forgetting about the slush, ice,
snow boots, and dark season in no time. So, if you find that you re unmotivated, checked out, and
heavy hearted, try to fight these feelings by taking steps towards the light even in the darkest part of
winter. That, of course, is easier said than done for some people. If you and your family are in need of
a winter vacation but if cost is a major factor, consider one of these affordable and super fun
destinations where your money will go a lot farther. Dallas, Texas Some of you may have all heard
that everything is bigger in Texas and well, it is. Dallas isn t home to just the Cowboys, Rangers,

Exploring The Depth Of Romance And How Coppola s Dracula
Rationale:
My feature article will be exploring the depth of romance and how and why Coppola decided to
develop theses deep ideas of love. I will also be discussing Coppola s decision to use very old film
techniques. This is will allow the reader of the feature article to further understand why Coppola did
the things that he did and therefore allow them to have a better understanding of the film. I will also be
exploring the attitudes, values and beliefs that were held in the time period of the original novel and
how Coppola developed and presented that to a modern 90 s audience. TRUE LOVE S DARK BITE
Francis Ford Coppola s 1992 hit, Bram Stoker s Dracula, reimagines the timeless Dracula tale and
creates a twisted love story that allows contemporary audiences an insight into a surprisingly relatable
fable, as Taylor Ellison explores... Bram Stoker s Dracula
Love is not black and white and Francis Ford Coppola s ageless classic Bram Stoker s Dracula
epitomises the many layers that come with romance. The dark love story highlights the romance of the
gothic horror and still manages to convey the fear and terror that cemented the original novel as an
iconic and memorable classic. Coppola s imaginative view of a timeless tale embodies the gothic
genre, with strong themes of romance, sexuality and lust, as the complexity of love is exposed.
Coppola allows us an insight into his processes when creating this epic narrative.

The Book Of Esther And Women
Her Story: The Book of Esther and Women in the Leadership Role Women have played important
leadership roles throughout history and the biblical story of Esther is one such example. The Book of
Esther is about the fear of a feminine insurrection against patriarchal order and sacrifice within the
community. The objective of this paper is to explore how the world s view of a women s role in
leadership has evolved from the third century BCE to present day by examining the biblical
understanding of leadership regarding Esther and Vashti through a historical, literary, and
contemporary perspective.
Leadership through a historical perspective Set in the Persian Empire of King Ahasuerus (486 465
BCE), the story of Esther reveals the defenselessness of women within an already vulnerable
community of diasporic Jews (Leith, 2010, p. 709). In this society, women were the lowest members
of the community, rarely had control of their own lives, and depended on the male relatives in the
community to take care of them. Traditionally, the definition of leadership, The ability to make
strategic decisions and use communication effectively to mobilize group members toward achieving a
common goal usually describes a position held by males (Engleberg, Wynn, 2013, p. 100). However,
the leadership role can be performed by anyone willing to take on the job. It can be a matter of being
in right place at the right time, Very often, the most effective leadership occurs when a leader

Black Hawk Down Analysis
Our troops went through easily the most horrible days of their lives in the Battle of Mogadishu. They
spent a full day, which presumably felt like an eternity, fighting their hearts out for our country. The
novel Black Hawk Down illustrates the story of the horrific battle that took place on October 3, 1903
(Bowden 3), moreover, BHD teaches us important lessons that especially apply to teenagers in MUSD
because we have a marine base in 29 Palms. The knowledge we acquire from BHD relating to the
battle, the men s experiences, and the families worries allow us to behave respectfully in our
community. This book presents us with knowledge of what battle is truly like, moreover, how
extensive the preparation the troops go through is. They are trained for every predictable scenario,
even how to act in captivity (Bowden 307). The troops additionally experienced intense fighting,
furthermore, real battles are much more horrible than we can imagine and quick thinking is necessary.
The American teaches soldiers that they cannot shoot unless fired upon, but this rule was broken
during this heated battle in order to potentially save lives for Americans. (Anderson). This educates us
by emphasizing that that training and rules do not always apply. The death toll of the troops was quite
severe. It depleted the present community of both America and Somalia. Eighteen Americans died and
over 70 were wounded. At least 500 Somalis were killed and over 1,00 wounded, most of them

Propaganda In Ww1 Essay
Prior to 1914 to 1918, Americans followed the idealism of isolationist to remain neutral in foreign
wars and affairs. During World War I, propaganda was used to influence exit isolationism, change
America s views on immigrants, and keep Americans participating and fighting in the war.
Propaganda was used to directly appeal to the emotions and patriotism of many Americans, willing
them to join the war. It was also used to express America s ever changing ideas of immigrants, such as
the Japanese in California. All the while, propaganda still showed what control the American
government had over what its people consumed in their everyday life.Through the four year time

America entered a war that was not their battle at the start, so the American government had to keep
the interest of the people to keep the aid that people provided. The films were to keep continuity
amongst Americans and their ideals of aiding America in a foreign fight. Changing from isolationist
can be a large move, especially only doing it to fight in war. Many of the films and commercials were
showing American men drafting into the military or women working in weaponry plants. Showing
films with those ideals either persuaded Americans to keep fighting of join the fight, but idea never

consistent throughout the war. The image and depiction of who the bad guy was stayed the same, and
American attitudes towards those people stayed the same. Any image of the Central Powers in
propaganda stayed the same throughout any film; they were evil men, pillaging and destroying

Theories Of Clinical Depression
Globally, around 350 million people suffer from clinical depression. However, its causes remain
largely unknown. There are many theories that attempt to explain the cause of depression, but none of
them fully explain the disorder. In this essay I will explain the assumptions made in the psychoanalytic
and biological theories around depression.
The field of psychoanalysis, founded by Sigmund Freud, views mental conditions and disturbances
depression included as coming from often forgotten childhood experiences rooted into one s
subconscious. One of Freud s early psychoanalytic theories regarding depression was the child turning
guilt ridden anger on the self, meaning that a child s dissatisfaction with their parental relationships
would clash with their desire to impress their parents, causing them to internalise their bitter and
dissatisfied emotions. This internalisation would lead to self destructive behaviours and depressive
symptoms later in life. Several similar theories have been raised ... Show more content on

Events such as the death of a loved one, financial instability, or general emotional distress all
statistically increase one s likelihood of developing depression, and both of the theories that I have
discussed fail to account for the influence that these current events may have on an individual s mental
health. The psychoanalytical approach focuses only on early childhood, while the biological approach
does not take any life events at all into account. Psychoanalysis assumes that depression is rooted in
early childhood with little evidence to support this assumption. The biological approach, while still
erasing the effect that life events can have on depression, provides much more valid scientific
evidence to strengthen its theories. Because of this, I believe the biological approach to be a more

Gilgamesh And TheEpic Of Gilgamesh The maturation of Gilgamesh and his desire to acquire wisdom throughout his journey is quite apparent. By overcoming difficulties such as upholding Uruk, becoming friends with Enkidu, and various other scenarios, Gilgamesh proves that he did in fact grow up throughout the epic. As the epic starts, Gilgamesh is portrayed as a self centered, self admiring leader who believes that he is the only individual that can lead the city of Uruk. Gilgamesh believes that he is a god like figure and often refers to himself as one. He believes that he is above everyone else in the city of Uruk. For example, in the epic there is a scene where Gilgamesh enters the city of Uruk, the epic describes the scene as; He entered the city of Uruk the Town Square, and a crowd gathered around. He came to a halt in the street of Uruk the Town Square, all gathered about, the people discussed him (15). This quote is a good example of how Gilgamesh expected those around him to respect and look up to him as a god like figure. He did not lead the city of Uruk humbly; he wasn t a leader who strived to feel like a normal citizen of the city. Instead, Gilgamesh felt that he was entitled to more privileges than the average person. Early on in the epic, Gilgamesh is described as a tall, magnificent and terrible, who opened passes in the mountains, who dug wells on the slopes of the uplands, and crosses the ocean, the wide sea to the sunrise (2). This demonstrates how selfish Gilgamesh truly was, and how all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Positive AspectsOf Stereotypes In todays world everyone has their own stereotypes, whether they are positive stereotypes of negative stereotypes. They can also be true or false in a sense of being rational and just being ignorant. Stereotypes are used today to give groups an image of what most people claim for that group to be like. Normally when someone is referring to or using the word stereotype they are referring to a collective, professors are smart, firemen are fearless, etc. Humans are around unfamiliar areas or groups they are uncertain about; they tend to use the little knowledge that exists to themselves to reduce uncertainty about the situation. To a lesser degree one knows about the situation the more stereotypical thoughts are made and used. Simple auto stereotype is the term referred to when referring to members of a nationality. Thoughts on this is idea is that everyone will have their own thoughts and ideas with other groups. Knowing less about different nationalities is the reason for stereotype thoughts towards them. I am from a small town called Perry, Georgia and here numerous amount of Indians own gas stations throughout town. The. Stereotype the community created for the Indian gas station is that they are cheap. The Indian gas stations have all the cheap snacks, drinks, they even sell a cheap generic brand of ibuprofen. The fact we as a community do not know much about their race and that they have cheaper prices for snacks and drinks we use stereotype to help with the uncertainty in the situation. The Five Factor Model (FFM) was started because trait approaches had become exceedingly important in understanding the relationship between culture and personality. This is why the Five Factor Model is the dominant view in society today. These five dimensions are conscientiousness, neuroticism, extraversion, openness to experience and agreeableness. Many premature studies have provided support for the cross cultural validity of the Five Factor Model. I believe this approach needs to be addressed, as active evaluation will allow our team to proactively diagnose if a solutions is effective or not, triggering the problem solving process to start again. The widget department sales have declined and we have identified a symptom. Among these injuries are concussions, arguably the worst injury of all. A significant blow to the head that causes the brain to shake in the skull and sometime even swell causes a concussion. These serious and sometimes life threatening injuries have always been a part of hockey, and up until a few years ago, little was being done to combat the cause. Farm As AnAllegory In George Orwell s Animal Farm An author who has been praised though the years for his revolutionary ideas and works, George Orwell has written everything from poems to essays. He liked uncovering hidden truths; consequently, doing it by writing political works like Animal Farm. On the surface George Orwell s novel Animal Farm is about a group of neglected animals who overthrow their owner and take control of the farm. However, under the surface this novel is an allegory detailing the events of the Russian Revolution. The author s use of anthropomorphism and common diction lead us to believe he intended the novel to be read by the everyday man or lay person. The novel is written as warning to readers within its central theme that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Orwell uses stylistic devices (such as symbolism and irony) and tone (hope twisted to despair) in Animal Farm to tell the tragic tale of animal rebellion at Manor Farm. The author wrote this novel in response to his opinion of the Russian Revolution; he wanted to consciously use political and artistic purpose in the book to talk to the people. Ultimately, Orwell effectively fuses his political and artistic purpose into a single powerful work of art in his short novel Animal Farm. One of Orwell s works that could help us analyze and understand his intent for Animal Farm is his essay Why I Write . George Orwell s essay Why I Write is about the evolution of Orwell s style of writing from a child to the time when written and how his opinions on writing have changed. Perhaps the author wrote Why I Write because he wants to help explain to the world how Animal Farm was written and the thought process behind it. Orwell s intended audience for this work is writers and readers of his books. Writers would be interested as it gives advice and his beliefs on writing, but his readers would be interested because it talks about his books more in depth and his purpose. The narrator in this essay is the author himself and it is in first person describing events and his thoughts/emotions. Orwell used some stylistic devices in Why I Write but the main two that are showcased are rhetoric and analogies. Overall, the tone throughout the entire work is reflective but in ... Leadership through a historical perspective Set in the Persian Empire of King Ahasuerus (486 465 BCE), the story of Esther reveals the defenselessness of women within an already vulnerable community of diasporic Jews (Leith, 2010, p. 709). Black Hawk DownAnalysis Our troops went through easily the most horrible days of their lives in the Battle of Mogadishu. They spent a full day, which presumably felt like an eternity, fighting their hearts out for our country. The novel Black Hawk Down illustrates the story of the horrific battle that took place on October 3, 1903 (Bowden 3), moreover, BHD teaches us important lessons that especially apply to teenagers in MUSD because we have a marine base in 29 Palms. The knowledge we acquire from BHD relating to the battle, the men s experiences, and the families worries allow us to behave respectfully in our community. This book presents us with knowledge of what battle is truly like, moreover, how extensive the preparation the troops go through is. They are trained for every predictable scenario, even how to act in captivity (Bowden 307). The troops additionally experienced intense fighting, furthermore, real battles are much more horrible than we can imagine and quick thinking is necessary. The American teaches soldiers that they cannot shoot unless fired upon, but this rule was broken during this heated battle in order to potentially save lives for Americans. (Anderson). This educates us by emphasizing that that training and rules do not always apply. The death toll of the troops was quite severe. It depleted the present community of both America and Somalia. Eighteen Americans died and over 70 were wounded. At least 500 Somalis were killed and over 1,00 wounded, most of them civilians ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Evolution Of ZombiesIn The 21st Century Throughout the history of filmography, the genre of zombies has changed from its origin in the early 1900s to its current conception in the 21st century. Zombies are known for being lifeless, brain eating, and slow moving undead creatures. In movies and shows, we often see them feasting upon the living where there are protagonists or better known as the survivors, fighting for survival. The similarities we see 2015 in comparison to the 1930s illustrate zombies as more gorey, with less human features or characteristics. Propaganda In Ww1Essay Prior to 1914 to 1918, Americans followed the idealism of isolationist to remain neutral in foreign wars and affairs. During World War I, propaganda was used to influence exit isolationism, change America s views on immigrants, and keep Americans participating and fighting in the war. Propaganda was used to directly appeal to the emotions and patriotism of many Americans, willing them to join the war. It was also used to express America s ever changing ideas of immigrants, such as the Japanese in California. All the while, propaganda still showed what control the American government had over what its people consumed in their everyday life.Through the four year time frame America was able to build their army, have people support their political ... America entered a war that was not their battle at the start, so the American government had to keep the interest of the people to keep the aid that people provided. The films were to keep continuity amongst Americans and their ideals of aiding America in a foreign fight. Changing from isolationist can be a large move, especially only doing it to fight in war. Many of the films and commercials were showing American men drafting into the military or women working in weaponry plants. Showing films with those ideals either persuaded Americans to keep fighting of join the fight, but idea never changed. Americans did not see those films and automatically not want to help their nation win the war. Propaganda was made with the intentions of making Americans help in fight and that idea was consistent throughout the war. The image and depiction of who the bad guy was stayed the same, and American attitudes towards those people stayed the same. Any image of the Central Powers in propaganda stayed the same throughout any film; they were evil men, pillaging and destroying nations. With that image in mind, Americans kept the same thoughts about any ethnic group that was apart of the Central Powers. Being shown such images keep Americans in the same state of mind, and that was to aid their nation and win the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Theories Of ClinicalDepression Globally, around 350 million people suffer from clinical depression. However, its causes remain largely unknown. There are many theories that attempt to explain the cause of depression, but none of them fully explain the disorder. In this essay I will explain the assumptions made in the psychoanalytic and biological theories around depression. The field of psychoanalysis, founded by Sigmund Freud, views mental conditions and disturbances depression included as coming from often forgotten childhood experiences rooted into one s subconscious. One of Freud s early psychoanalytic theories regarding depression was the child turning guilt ridden anger on the self, meaning that a child s dissatisfaction with their parental relationships would clash with their desire to impress their parents, causing them to internalise their bitter and dissatisfied emotions. This internalisation would lead to self destructive behaviours and depressive symptoms later in life. Several similar theories have been raised ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Events such as the death of a loved one, financial instability, or general emotional distress all statistically increase one s likelihood of developing depression, and both of the theories that I have discussed fail to account for the influence that these current events may have on an individual s mental health. The psychoanalytical approach focuses only on early childhood, while the biological approach does not take any life events at all into account. Psychoanalysis assumes that depression is rooted in early childhood with little evidence to support this assumption. The biological approach, while still erasing the effect that life events can have on depression, provides much more valid scientific evidence to strengthen its theories. Because of this, I believe the biological approach to be a more sound ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
