Mind Map
• Strengths of using this method
– Clear method of stating points and adding to them.
– Lets you explore a different range of ideas.
• Weaknesses of using this method
– It can take a longer amount of time than is necessary due to having to
explore ideas that you ay know you're not going to do.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
No I find it hard to keep them organised and to write as much
information as I would like to in a mind map and to add as much detail to
each individual point so that I can remember my ideas more specifically.
Mood Board
Mood Board
• Strengths of using this method
– Gives ideas for possible designs and aesthetics for your advert as well as
the types of slogans used in pre-existing adverts.
– Shows you what has already been done so that you wouldn’t directly copy
any brand or infringe on any copyrighted content.
• Weaknesses of using this method
– It could show that your idea has already been done by somebody else.
– It could inspire you to create something that would then be seen as
copying the content you saw.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
Yes, a mood board gave me ideas for possible themes and designs for my
advert and the ways to use he colour scheme for this particular brand.
Style Sheet
Coca Cola
Coca Cola
May use branches and edit
them to look like writing for
the halloween theme
similar to a photo seen on
my mood board.
Style Sheet
• Strengths of using this method
– Refines your options to make sure you don’t go overboard with
different colours and styles in the advert that might not match each
other.
– Weaknesses of using this method
– Could restrict you if you try to stick to the styles and colours on your
style sheet too much.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
Yes because it helped me to find fonts similar to the brands font and
colours which would work for the theme of my poster but would match
previous adverts made by this brand.
Layout Plan
Layout Plan
• Strengths of using this method
– We got to plan out how everything was going to be positioned and how
you wanted it to look before starting so that you had a clear idea of what
to aim for.
– Weaknesses of using this method
– You cant be as precise as you would be in the final product in the layout
plans which can make it hard to foresee how the final product will look
when put into Photoshop compared to how it looks on the paper.
– Do you like this method? Why?
- I like this method to an extent as I like to plan out what I create before
going straight into it however it is a lot harder to show how something is
going to look on paper than when you try to create it in Photoshop.
Brainstorm
Brainstorm
• Strengths of using this method
– We got to merge our ideas as a group to create a final product that has
been through more opinion than just one so it should be more
appealing to a wider audience than one that had just been created by
one person.
– Weaknesses of using this method
– People could disagree with each other on certain ideas.
– Attempts to make a product that pleases everybody in the group could
end up making the final product of a lower quality.
– Did you like using this method? Why?
• Yes because we get to use the whole groups ideas for the final product
which contains ideas that I may not have though of on my own.
Informal Pitch
• Strengths of using this method
– It meant that we could get tips and change what we had originally
planned on creating to make sure that none of it was offensive and to
improve it.
• Weaknesses of using this method
– Some of your ideas could have been discovered to be bad ideas due to
being offensive or copyright or simply would be poorly executed.
– Did you like using this method? Why?
- No, I think that the time spent working on this could have been sued
working on the radio advert itself however if we had originally planned on
adding any unoriginal or offensive content to it the nit would have been more
useful to us.
Initial Reaction
• I will have to create a pixel based game to advertise for Coca-Cola on a
320(h) by 480(w) canvas on Photoshop.
• It will feature the classic Coca-Cola bottle and characters to collect them in
a side scrolling game.
• It will have influences from Crash Bandicoot in that they have a similar
style of jumping on top of crates to get rewards which I will also use in my
game.
• The colour scheme will use a lot of red and white similar to the coca cola
colours so that the theme is more obvious and also the rewards will be
coca cola bottles so it will be very apparent who the Advergame is
advertising for.
Initial Reaction
• Strengths of using this method
– The initial reaction was helpful to make a list of instructions to lead
you when you are going into creating a new product.
– Weaknesses of using this method
– You could be over optimistic with design ideas for the sketches.
– You could have written something wrong which then makes you slip
up and make a mistake later in the production.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
I liked it because I like to follow instructions and plans for my creations as
oppose to diving in head first and creating something with no guideelines.
Sketches
Sketches
• Strengths of using this method
– You don’t need to start your designs from scratch so you get to plan
out what to create in Photoshop and its also planned out on squared
paper which is treated as the pixels used for the creation of the
Advergame.
• Weaknesses of using this method
– The designs could turn out to be too big or small on the editing
software when turned into pixels so you might have to change the
dimensions or change entirely the design of characters or props.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
• Yes, because I knew exactly where to place the pixels before creating them
in Photoshop to create the look that I wanted for my characters and props.
Formal Proposal
• Strengths of using this method
– You get to plan your ideas out clearly and get a clearer idea of
what you should or shouldn't’t add into your product as it
makes you think through what could be seen as offensive to
different groups or people.
– Weaknesses of using this method
– You could find out that your plan wont abide by the rules and
could be offensive to some audiences and this may require you
to change your idea to fix it.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
- Yes, it helps me plan in more detail what I will create to avoid breaking
any rules or laws.
