This paper analyzes the latency and throughput of a 2D torus topology using a modified XY routing algorithm within a Network-on-Chip (NoC) framework. It discusses the advantages of the torus topology over traditional mesh topology, particularly in terms of reducing overall latency and improving throughput, and presents findings from simulations using the Nirgam simulator. The proposed modifications to the routing algorithm are aimed at enhancing performance, particularly in scenarios of varying packet sizes and random traffic patterns.
