Thank you for joining us at the inaugural Future Schools Technology Conference, where we learned about
industry trends and best practices to adopt technology in the classroom.
On April 24, we brought school leaders together for an affordable and informative day of professional
development. The Future Schools Conference offered two dozen expert presentations, hands-on
demonstrations, and a chance to learn from the experiences of others who have successfully deployed
technology at their schools.

Legal Considerations of Adopting Technology in
Schools
Maureen Murphy, Legal Counsel, Archdiocese of
Chicago
Maureen will discuss legal issues that frequently arise regarding
the use of technology in schools. Questions from the participants
are requested and encouraged.
How Do I Prepare My 8th Graders for High School
Technology Skills? (panel discussion)

As more schools embrace 1:1 learning environments, students will
be using more tools in their technology toolbox. Come share in a
panel conversation with high school partners as they discuss skills
that 9th graders will need to be successful in their 1:1
environments.
Implementing Robotics Into the 2nd-8th Grade
Curriculum

Garrett will explain and demonstrate Sphero Robotics from Orbotix
and the SPRK Education Curriculum associated with
programming/coding the units. This session will demonstrate and
create a hands-on lab experience for fellow professionals
promoting this aspect of the STEM initiative.

Critical Steps in Implementing a 1:1 Program

being named Apple Distinguished School, this workshop will
introduce participants to strategies guiding the design of our
program to prepare teachers for the 1:1 learning environment.
Office 365: Getting Started

One of the hottest tech buzz words these days is "cloud
computer". Many schools are trying to determine who offers the
best solution. Queen of Angels School has taken the Microsoft
Office 365 route. IT coordinator Kent Jager will talk about some of
the reasons they took this direction and insights on
implementation.
Getting the Most Out of Google Drive
Sarah Kline, Technology Coach, St. John of the Cross
Learn the basics of Google Drive in this introductory presentation.
Create folders, share documents and files, and get a basic
overview of Docs, Sheets, and Slides. For those ready for the next
level, learn about add-ons and extensions that can extend the
functionality of your Google Drive applications even further.
Digital Storytelling to Promote Engaged Learning

Learn about different apps and computer-based tools that can be
used to create digital stories in classroom settings, along with
strategies for guiding struggling readers. Attendees will have the
opportunity to view digital stories made by children in grades 1 –
10.
"Why Do I Have To Do This?" - Communicating
with Stakeholders

Keeping all stakeholders engaged is one of the critical path items
of a successful technology initiative. This session will cover a
variety of available communication methods to help increase the
frequency and outreach of communication between schools and
stakeholders.
