such as the City's Centennial Magazine, and annual projects such as the Rio Grande Valley Visitors'

prioritization, delegation and management of tasks and functions necessary to complete each project
by deadline while adhering to regular weekly deadlines for the company's three weekly publications.
Communicate externally our needs to the printer, area parks, points of interest, museums, city,
county, and state departments, the university; as well as internal communication with sales staff,
production staff, and the publisher; along with regular status updates and follow up were critical to
ensuring that each publication not only made it to press on time, but we delivered high quality
publications of interest to our market each and every time.

 While taking on new and challenging duties and advancing within the newspaper business, graphic
design and page layout skills were developed using programs such as Quark Xpress, InDesign,
PhotoShop, and Acrobat to produce ads, letterheads and flyers for publication and external
communications. Additionally, as the webmaster for the newspaper in the infancy of its website
proficiency was developed in the use of DreamWeaver and the Joomla CMS in the design and daily
maintenance of three web properties.
 Computer Literacy – A long and varied career in newspaper publishing has afforded ample
opportunity to become proficient, and even expert, on both PC and Apple platforms using a wide
variety of software applications. In addition to graphic and web design applications, the Microsoft
suite of office applications, QuickBooks accounting software and FileMaker database software have
all been a part of my toolbox employed to complete daily job functions.
 Extensive writing and copy editing experience. Breadth of writing experience has included
entertainment and human interest writing, government and news reporting, investigative reporting,
and public relations. Additionally, editing experience has included such duties as adapting syndicated
articles and columns for our audience, editing and refining corporate and governmental news releases,
and society and events news items prior to publication following Associated Press Stylebook rules.
