● According to a report “Student Generative AI Survey 2025” (26 February 2025)
published by the Higher Education Policy Institute and Kortext:
○ “There are urgent lessons here for institutions”;
○ “Every assessment must be reviewed in case it can be completed easily
using AI. That will require bold retraining initiatives for staff in the power
and potential of generative AI”.
● UK universities warned to ‘stress-test’ assessments as 92% of students use AI.
Survey of 1,000 students shows an 'explosive increase’ in use of generative AI in
particular over the past 12 months. Almost nine out of 10 (88%) in the 2025 poll
said they used tools such as ChatGPT for their assessments, up from 53% last
year.
● With the widespread use of AI tools among students, traditional assessment
methods may need revision. Universities are encouraged to "stress-test" their
assessments to ensure they accurately measure student learning outcomes in
the context of AI-assisted work.
● In Sep 2023, UNESCO published the "
Guidance for Generative Artificial Intelligence in

advanced cybersecurity measures are crucial.
● Ethical and Pedagogical Implications:
○ The integration of GenAI tools raises questions about academic integrity,
potential biases in AI-generated content, and the overall impact on
traditional teaching methodologies
○ Develop clear policies, code of conduct that govern the ethical use of GenAI
in education. This encompasses establishing codes of conduct, revising
assessment methods to uphold academic integrity, and ensuring
transparency in AI applications
Challenges and Recommendation
● Initiate a hub of Vietnam AI for Higher Education Innovation (AI4HEI):
○ Encourage the launch of pilot projects that explore GenAI applications in
various educational contexts. These initiatives can provide valuable insights
and inform scalable implementation strategies
○ Engage in partnerships with global educational and AI communities to share
best practices, resources, and research findings, fostering a collaborative
approach to GenAI integration within Vietnam and ASEAN, International.

FRESH NEWS ● According to a report “Student Generative AI Survey 2025” (26 February 2025) published by the Higher Education Policy Institute and Kortext: ○ “There are urgent lessons here for institutions”; ○ “Every assessment must be reviewed in case it can be completed easily using AI. That will require bold retraining initiatives for staff in the power and potential of generative AI”. ● UK universities warned to ‘stress-test’ assessments as 92% of students use AI. Survey of 1,000 students shows an 'explosive increase’ in use of generative AI in particular over the past 12 months. Almost nine out of 10 (88%) in the 2025 poll said they used tools such as ChatGPT for their assessments, up from 53% last year. ● With the widespread use of AI tools among students, traditional assessment methods may need revision. Universities are encouraged to "stress-test" their assessments to ensure they accurately measure student learning outcomes in the context of AI-assisted work.

  • 5. ● In March 2024, the European Commission, in collaboration with ERA countries and stakeholders, introduced the " Living Guidelines on the Responsible Use of Generative AI in Research": aiming to support researchers, research organizations, and funders in adopting generative AI responsibly. ● They emphasize Transparency and Responsibility, Avoiding Sensitive Tasks, Safeguarding Privacy and Intellectual Property, Institutional Oversight., aligning with the European Code of Conduct for Research Integrity and the High-Level Expert Group on AI's guidelines on trustworthy AI. ● In 2023, the European Commission issued a Policy brief on “ Harnessing the power of AI to accelerate discovery and foster innovation”.   • 6. ● In February 2024, ASEAN introduced the " ASEAN Guide on AI Governance and Ethics" a comprehensive framework designed to assist organizations and governments in the responsible design, development, and deployment of AI systems. ● ASEAN released an “ Expanded ASEAN Guide on AI Governance and Ethics – Generative AI” in January 2025, focusing on Generative AI. This guide offers insights into leveraging Generative AI for innovative teaching and learning methods while addressing challenges such as intellectual property rights and content authenticity ● The "AI Ready ASEAN" program aims to enhance AI literacy and capacity across the region. ○ With a USD 5 million grant, this 2.5-year programme aims to equip 5.5 million individuals from all ten ASEAN Member States with essential AI skills. ○ Utilizing a train-the-trainer model, the initiative seeks to educate 2,000 master trainers who will, in turn, provide comprehensive AI literacy training AI Guideline for Higher Education - ASEAN

  • 14. ● An interdisciplinary project “I nclusive Use of Artificial Intelligence in Education in Vietnam” (September 2024 - July 2026) focuses on digital transformation across Vietnam by collaborating with educators from diverse regions and backgrounds. ○ The goal is to develop effective practices for integrating AI tools into teaching and learning processes. This project involves education and computer science researchers from the UK (BCU, NTU) and Vietnam (HCMUE, HUE, VNU, VU) working with schools and educators in Vietnam to co-develop pedagogical practices and resources to trial latest AIEd technologies ● Led by Coventry University in partnership with Hanoi University of Science and Technology, the GameAid project aims to enhance Vietnamese educators' understanding and application of Generative AI in education. ○ The project involves designing, prototyping, and evaluating a serious game to support educators in developing digital literacy and skills necessary for integrating AI into their teaching practices.   • 15. ● Fulbright University Vietnam received a $1.5 million grant from Google to advance AI research and education. ○ This funding supports the development of cutting-edge AI educational programs, including research initiatives and scholarships in Vietnam. ○ Focuses: AI Teaching, Faculty Development, Research and Collaboration, Google Scholarship, Community Outreach. ● In late 2024, RMIT University Vietnam conducted free training sessions for over 1,400 teachers, lecturers, and educational managers na tionwide . These programs focused on applying AI tools, particularly generative AI, in teaching and learning activities. The training covered various topics, including lesson planning, assessment design, multimedia content creation, and the use of AI chatbot assistants to support education. ● British University Vietnam encourages students to utilize AI in their learning and assessments, publishes scientific studies on AI's effectiveness in education, and AI Exploitation in Vietnam HEIs
