Project Stakeholders Management
Project Stakeholders
⚫ Stakeholdersare personsand/ or organizations
(e.g.,customers, sponsors,the performing organization,Govt.or the public)
⚫ Mayor maynot activelyinvolved in the project
⚫ Whose interests may be positively or negatively affected bythe
performance or completion of the project.
⚫ Stakeholdersmayalso exert influence over the project, its deliverables,
and the project team members.
⚫ Project managementteam must identify both internal and external
stakeholdersin order to determine the project requirements and
expectations of all involved.
⚫ Project manager must manage the influence of the various
stakeholdersin relation to the project requirements to ensure asuccessful
outcome.
Project Stakeholders
Key stakeholders
• The project manager
• Customer
• Performing organization
• Project Team
• Project Management Team
• Sponsor
• Influencers
• The Project Management Office
Project Stakeholder Management
⚫ Includes the processes required to identify the people,
groups or organizations that could impact or be impacted
by project.
⚫Identify Stakeholders-- The process of identifying the people, groups,
or organizations that could impact or be impacted byadecision
⚫ Plan Stakeholder Mgmt ---- based on the analysis of their needs,
interests, and potential impact on project success

Chap. 13 – Project Stakeholder Management
⚫ Manage Stakeholder Engagement -- Theprocessofcommunicating
andworking with stakeholders to meet their needs/expectations,and foster
appropriate stakeholder engagementin project activities throughout the project life
cycle
⚫ Control Stakeholder Engagement -- Theprocessofmonitoring overall
project stakeholder relationships and adjusting strategies and plans for engaging
stakeholders

modification of engagement strategies and plans.
Includes the processes includes the processes required to identify the people,
groups or organizations that could impact or be impacted by project
Project Stakeholder Management
 Identify all stakeholders
 Determine their requirements
 Determine their expectations
 Determine their interest
 Determine the level of influence
 Plan how to manage
 Plan communication
 Control engagement
9
Stakeholder Analysis
⚫Stakeholder analysis is atechnique of systematically gathering and
analyzing quantitative and qualitative information to determine
whose interests should be taken into account throughout the
project.
⚫It identifies the interests, expectations, and influence of the
stakeholders and relates them to the purpose of the project
10
Stakeholder Analysis
⚫ There are multiple classification models used for stakeholders analysis, such
as:
⚫ Power/interest grid, grouping the stakeholders based on their level of
authority (“power”) and their level or concern (“interest”) regarding the
project outcomes
⚫ Power/influence grid
⚫ Influence/impact grid,
⚫ Salience model, describing classes of stakeholders based on their power
(ability to impose their will),urgency (need for immediate attention), and
legitimacy (their involvementis appropriate).
11
12
Stakeholder Register : Outputs
Identification information. Name, organizational position, location, role in the project,
contact information;
⚫ Assessment information. Majorrequirements,main expectations,potential influence
in the project, phase in the life cycle with the most interest; and
⚫ Stakeholder classification. Internal/external, upporter/neutral/resistor, etc.
13
Identify stakeholderActivity
Extend the Last Project Work by Identifying
the Stakeholders and associated Project
attributes/ requirments

Project Scope
Management
Project management for Healthcare
Scope – Important Definitions
Scope:
⚫ “Thework that must be done in order to deliver aproduct with the
specified features and functions.”
⚫ “Thefeatures and functions that are to be included in aproduct or
services.”
Scope ofW
ork (SOW)
⚫ Anarrative description of the work to be accomplishedor resource to be
supplied.
Scope Baseline
⚫ Summary description of the work to be accomplished or resource to
be supplied.Thisis an important part of Project Plan
Scope Criteria
⚫ Standards or rules composed of parameters to be considered in
definingthe project.
Constraints
⚫ These are factorsthat Limit the Project ManagementT
eam’s options
Assumptions
⚫ These are the factors that, for Planning purposes are considered to be
true / real or certain.
Scope – Important Definitions
Project Scope Management
 Primary concern ofPMisto defineandcontrol what is andwhat is
not included in the project
 Note that one must concentrate on defining both:
 Inclusions&
 Exclusions
 In the project context, the term scope can refer to:
Product scope.The featuresand functions that characterize a
product, service, or result; and/or
Project scope. The work that needs to be accomplished to deliver a
product, service,or result with the specified features and functions.
Project Scope Management
The approved detailed project scope statement and its
associatedWBS is server as scope baseline for the project
⚫ Completion of the project scope is measured against the project
management plan.
Project Scope Management Processes
Scope: refers to all the work involved in creating the deliverables of the project
and the processes used to create them.
Processes required to ensure that the project includes all the work required, and
only the work required, to complete the project successfully

Control Scope
20
Collect Requirements
⚫ The process of defining and documenting the stakeholder
needs to meet project objectives.
⚫ Requirements include the quantified and documented
needs and expectations of the sponsor, customer, and
other stakeholders.
⚫ These requirements need to be deducted, analyzed and
recorded in enough detail to be measured once the project
execution begins.
⚫ Collecting requirements is defining and managing customer
expectations
Define Scope
23
- Process of developing a detailed description of the
project and product.
-Preparation of a detailed project scope statement is critical
to project success
-Project Scope is build upon the major deliverables,
assumptions, and constraints that are documented during
project initiation.
Create WBS Process
38
Create WBS is the process of
subdividing Project deliverables
and project work into smaller, more
manageable components. The key
benefit of this process is that it
provides a structured vision of
what has to be delivered.
WBS is the hierarchical decomposition
of the total scope of work
The planned work is contained
within the lowest level of WBS
components, called Work
Packages.
AWork Package can be used to
group the activities where work is
scheduled and estimated,
monitored and controlled.
26
⚫ WBS is a tool that breaks a project into small delivery
oriented small and manageable elements.
⚫ Purpose of creating WBS
⚫ Simplify a complex project
⚫ Planning can be better using WBS
⚫ Duration, Cost & Budget can be established (can act a base for Costing
Activities)
⚫ Time, Expenditure & Performance can be tracked
⚫ Network & Control Planning can be initiated
⚫ Responsibilities & Resources can be assigned
⚫ Omissions / Duplications of Tasks can be avoided
⚫ Provide a common structure & coding system
Create WBS
