- 1. Project Report Proposal Abstract Template You must follow this template. The content of your Proposal Abstract must be complete and clear. The Proposal Abstract will be used as a guide for you and your professor throughout the semester. Its current version should be brought to each weekly 1-on-1 meeting for review. 1 Introduction: Establish the topic of the research project and provide background of the problem(s) at hand. 1.1 Research Problem Statement and/or main objective of the project Sample questions to consider: • What is the problem you are trying to solve? • Why does it matter? • Who would be your user(s)? 1.2 Methodology and Objectives Sample questions to consider: • What are the tasks you will pursue to attack the problem? • How will you measure completion of the tasks? • How will you measure success? 1.3 Summary of Solution Sample questions to consider: • What is the solution you propose? • What are the benefits? Describe any “cons”. • How would you commercialize this solution (if possible)? 2 Technical Description • Provide a preliminary description of the solution o System architecture o Modules to implement o Schemas/ER Diagrams o Wire-frame for UI o Flowcharts for algorithms/procedures 3 Project Plan • Provide a schedule for the project that includes: o Milestones § These include progress reviews, demos, and code reviews for features o Major Deliverables (e.g. Final Project Review and Demo)
- 2. o For the entire semester, your Abstract must include a list of each week and the corresponding weekly milestones and/or associated deliverables. These will be reviewed weekly (individual meeting) and may be revised upon mutual agreement between the professor and student during the course based on good cause. List each week of the semester ending before your weekly individual meeting. For each week listed, indicate what you will have accomplished that week as of that date. 4 References Include a minimum of 3 references of works you have read that have helped you understand the background for your project and thus help prepare this abstract.
