PRODUCTION
REFLECTIONS
April-Wimmer
 We started with the planning and idea generation in the initials plans
PowerPoint. This helps you to put your ideas down on paper and see
if you think they would work. You need at least two ideas but three or
more is best.
 I had to make a trailer using parts of other films to show off my
product and to give a little look at what it maybe like, I edited this and
my short film on Premier.
 After all the PowerPoints and word documents I started to film my
short film using my own camera and SD card.
 When editing to add in the wings effect I had to use Adobe after
effects which was new and challenging for me as I didn’t understand it
well as it was new and advanced, but with some help we got it so it
worked. We used a “mask” to cover the wings so it looked as if they
were really from my back, we used “puppet pins” to just move the
wings to make it look more realistic.

 For my audio we had to use Diegetic and none Diegetic sounds
to create the effects and ambiance for my genre and style of the
film I was going for. Since it was a silent film we had to make sure
we had sounds to show what was going on. The Diegetic sounds
used were the sounds of the paper balls being thrown and the
birds in the trees and the door slamming open as the bullies ran
away. The Non-Diegetic sounds were my sound tracks, “top most
sad songs ever” and “victory music” which I used and cut to fit in
the parts needed. I had the sad track running almost all the way
through apart from the last few shots where my character turns
and stands up to the bullies and my wings appear which scare
them away, this music is the “victory music”. I made sure the
audio transition “cross fade” was used to move from one track to
the other, to change the mood of the piece. The change was
subtle and hopes to take the audience by surprise as many would
think it would end badly but instead she stands up to them which
isn’t as expected.

 My film uses Title screens and adjustment layers and also has a
video fade in and out.
 The title screens were used to show the title of the piece and add
the effect to make it as much of a “realistic” film.
 Adjustment layer was used to make the lighting colder in the
bullying scenes and brighter and warmer in the bird scene.
 The video fade in and out was to show it was in the victims head,
that she was imagining it not actually there, I believe this is clear
to the audience and my feedback says also.
 I had to use a clip from YouTube as being in winter not many
birds would be flying an don the days I was filming, it snowed
making it too cold for most birds and at that time of year most
birds are not around or have migrated which means I needed to
get a clip to add to my effect of the birds and wonderful things the
victim had seen which gave her confidence.
