We need to recognize that people
don’t know altogether what they are
doing. There is a spirit of deception
where sin is present. The husband
who thought he won the argument
lost intimacy with his wife. The person
who hurt you has hurt herself and her
relationship with God. People badly
need forgiveness from God, but few
people know this.

the truth
today you
will be with me
in paradise."

Words from a dying man can be
fearful, resentful or senile,
confused, forgetful but
rarely confident.
Like what Jesus did on the cross.
These last words from the lips of
Jesus were confident.

These words reflect a true
understanding of God and mankind.
With such understanding Jesus
responded confidently on the cross.

Luke 23:43
Jesus said to the thief who was
also crucified, “I tell you the truth,
today you will be with me in
paradise."

Romans 10:13
for, "Everyone who calls on the
name of the Lord will be
saved."(NIV)

As Jesus was hanging on the cross,
paying our penalty for sin, He made
a promise to a dying, repentant thief.
By the grace of God and the power
of Christ, that promise was kept. The
thief’s sins were washed away, and
His death that day was his entrance
to paradise.

It’s a about a thief who robbed
John Wesley.
"When evangelist John Wesley
(1703-1791) was returning home
from a service one night, he was
robbed. The thief, however, found
his victim to have only a little
money and some Christian
literature.

As the bandit was leaving, Wesley
called out, ”Stop! I have
something more to give you.”

The surprised robber paused.
“My friend,” said Wesley, “you
may live to regret this sort of life.
If you ever do, here something to
remember: The blood of Jesus
Christ cleanses us from all sin!”
The thief hurried away, and
Wesley prayed that his words
might bear fruit.

Years later, Wesley was greeting
people after a Sunday service
when he was approached by a
stranger. What a surprise to learn
that this visitor, now a believer in
Christ as a successful
businessman, was the one who
had robbed him years before!

“I owe it all to you, said the
transformed man."
“Oh no, my friend, Wesley
exclaimed, not to me, but to the
precious blood of Christ that
cleanses us from all sin!”

God's Word is an arrow that never
misses its mark.

Hebrews 4:12
For the word of God is alive and
active. Sharper than any double-
edged sword, it penetrates even
to dividing soul and spirit, joints
and marrow; it judges the
thoughts and attitudes of the
heart.

While the thief walked away, Wesley
shouted, "If you should someday
come to your senses and know what
you have done is wrong, turn to God
for FORGIVENESS THROUGH
JESUS CHRIST.

As Jesus dies for our sins, he does not
die completely alone. The Father gives
him a companion, a believer with
mighty faith, a believer who can look
past the raw wood and nails and blood
to the heavenly kingdom that Jesus will
inherit. He is a believer who wants "in."
Jesus answers him as life on earth
wanes, "Yes, you'll be with me there
today in paradise.
We'll go together, you and I."

What a faith!
What a promise!
What a privilege!
What a glory!

If we have the promise of Heaven,
because we belong to Jesus, then
every situation in our lives is an
opportunity to bring others into
Heaven with us. then every situation in

believers) is where you can
find home.

On 4 November 1847, the Scottish
obstetrician James Young Simpson first used
the anesthetic qualities of chloroform on a
pair of humans—two guests at his dinner
party. This was done as an entertainment and
not as a medical procedure.
The use of chloroform during surgery
expanded rapidly thereafter in Europe. In the
1850s, chloroform was used during the birth
of Queen Victoria's last two children.

In the United States, chloroform began to
replace ether as an anesthetic at the
beginning of the 20th century; however, it was
quickly abandoned in favor of ether upon
discovery of its toxicity, especially its
tendency to cause fatal cardiac arrhythmia
analogous to what is now termed "sudden
sniffer's death". Some people used
chloroform as a recreational drug or to
attempt suicide.

One possible mechanism of action for
chloroform is that it increases movement of
potassium ions through certain types of
potassium channels in nerve cells.
Chloroform could also be mixed with other
anesthetic agents such as ether to make C.E.
mixture, or ether and alcohol to make A.C.E.
mixture.

In 1848, Hannah Greener, a 15-year-old girl
who was having an infected toenail removed,
died after being given the anesthetic. A
number of physically fit patients died after
inhaling it. However, in 1848 John Snow
developed an inhaler that regulated the
dosage and so successfully reduced the
number of deaths.

The opponents and supporters of chloroform
were mainly at odds with the question of
whether the complications were solely due to
respiratory disturbance or whether chloroform
had a specific effect on the heart. Between
1864 and 1910 numerous commissions in
Britain studied chloroform, but failed to come
to any clear conclusions. It was only in 1911
that Levy proved in experiments with animals
that chloroform can cause cardiac fibrillation.

The reservations about chloroform could not
halt its soaring popularity. Between about
1865 and 1920, chloroform was used in 80 to
95% of all narcoses performed in UK and
German-speaking countries. In America,
however, there was less enthusiasm for
chloroform narcosis. In Germany the first
comprehensive surveys of the fatality rate
during anaesthesia were made by Gurlt
between 1890 and 1897.

In 1934, Killian gathered all the statistics
compiled until then and found that the
chances of suffering fatal complications under
ether were between 1: 14,000 and 1: 28,000,
whereas under chloroform the chances were
between 1: 3,000 and 1: 6,000. The rise of
gas anaesthesia using nitrous oxide,
improved equipment for administering
anaesthetics and the discovery of
hexobarbital in 1932 led to the gradual
decline of chloroform narcosis.

These words from Jesus tells us
that whatever we’re going through,
God is aware, and if He chose to,
He could have changed the
outcome.

Therefore, direct your questions to
God, but know that you can trust
His goodness and righteousness.

We see only a day at a time.
God sees the whole picture.
He will do what is good and right.

PAIN tells you that you

The samaritan woman was change
when she met Jesus. Jesus satisfied
her thirst.

RESENTMENT
AND ANGER
SAYS
"I’LL GET

CARE.”

Resentment and anger cannot
forgive because it has not tasted
God’s love, grace and mercy.

Ecclesiastes 5:17
17 They spend their entire lives in
darkness, in constant frustration,
sickness, and resentment.

But when a person drinks God’s love
he can forgive.

But a hopeful and trusting person
confesses his need and weakness
to God.

Taking All Pains And
Sufferings of life.

When Jesus

were compressed into His sour
cup; He can therefore feel

Jesus’ final word (Tetelestai in the
ancient Greek) is the cry of a winner.
Jesus had finished the eternal purpose
of the cross. It stands today as a finished
work, the foundation of all Christian
peace and faith, paying in full the debt
we righteously owe to God.

Humility And
Obedience
to the
Father’s will.

This speaks of a peaceful act, like
laying down on a pillow to sleep.
freely submitting to his Father's
will, and the stroke of death.

The Divine
Exchange Takes
Place Because
of the Father’s
great love for us.

Death had no righteous hold over the
sinless Son of God. He stood in the
place of sinners, but was never a
sinner Himself. So He could not die
unless He gave up His spirit.

John 10:17-18
17 “The Father loves me because I
sacrifice my life so I may take it back
again. 18 No one can take my life
from me. I sacrifice it voluntarily. For
I have the authority to lay it down
when I want to and also to take it up
again. For this is what my Father has
commanded.”

If you belong to Jesus, you will have the
resources and resolve to deal with the
trials in your life. Tough times are
temporary; God’s people are eternal.
Most people give into circumstances or
temptations, not because they lack
resources, but because they lack resolve;
they gave up too soon. We can finish and
finish well.

46 Jesus called out with a loud

commit my spirit.” When he had
said this, he breathed his last.

We have not lost if we know in
Whose hands we are held.

Whether stripped of our
possessions, reputation, physical
or mental health, we need not be
anxious, because our lives are not
like dry leaves, blown and tossed by
the wind.

We are lovingly and eternally
held in our Father’s hands.

"Father, into your hands
I commit my spirit."

Three aspects of this Seventh
Word.

He put His faith in the Father.

He put His trust in the Father.

He put His hope in the Father
when He said, "Father, into your
hands I commit my spirit.”

The Father did not leave Him
in the grave.

The Father did not abandon Him to
eternal death - but the Father gave
Him eternal life. If He did that to
Jesus –
He will do that to us too!

These final words of Jesus offer
eternal confidence and eternal
relationship. There is the promise of
forgiveness, the promise of
Heaven, the promise of family, the
promise of God’s watchfulness,
the promise of resources and
resolve, and the promise of God’s
sovereign care.

We are blessed generation? Why?
Because we are seeing by our own
eyes the fulfillment of the Scripture.
Truly we are living on the last
of the last days.
And so the days are exciting for us.

Father, when it comes a time for us
to let go of this life, help us do it with
the same kind of faith and
confidence that we see in Jesus. We
love you, Lord. Thank you for our
salvation and eternal life. In Jesus'
name, we pray. Amen.

Father today although steeped in
sadness my heart wants to shout out
with gladness, knowing that You
gave your only Son, my King Jesus
who loved me enough to die for my
sins on that cross. Father into your
hands I commit my life. Thank you
Jesus for making me whole, praise
You! Amen.
