The document presents a novel face recognition algorithm utilizing angle-oriented discrete cosine transforms (DCT) to enhance face detection reliability by incorporating neighborhood pixel information. It analyzes various distance measures for face matching, such as Euclidean, Manhattan, and cosine distances, demonstrating high recognition rates in experiments under differing illumination and expressions. The study concludes that the proposed method outperforms traditional approaches like the Karhunen-Loeve Transform (KLT) in terms of efficiency and reliability.
