Chapter 2, Project Life Cycle and Organization, describes the environment in which projects operate. Projects and project management are carried out in an environment broader than that of the project itself. The project team must understand this broader context so it can select the life cycle phases, processes and tools and techniques that appropriately fit the project. This chapter describes some key aspects of the project management context including project life cycle, project stakeholders and organizational influences. These 44 processes have been organized into 9 knowledge areas and 5 process groups. Chapter 4, Project Integration Management, describes the processes and activities that integrate the various elements of project management, which are identified, defined, combined , unified and coordinated within the Project Management Process Groups. Chapter 5, Project Scope Management, describes the processes required to ensure that the project includes all the work required, and only the work required, to complete the project successfully. Chapter 6, Project Time Management, describes the processes required to ensure timely completion of the project. Chapter 7, Project Cost Management, describes the processes required to ensure that the project is completed within the approved budget.
