This lesson plan discusses the functions of nouns. The objectives are for students to be able to identify noun functions, write sentences using noun functions, and create a paragraph using noun functions. The lesson defines noun functions as subject, object of preposition, direct object, indirect object, and subject complement. Examples are provided for each function and students are asked to provide their own examples. An activity is assigned for students to write a paragraph using noun functions describing their summer vacation.
Objectives
At the endof the lesson, 100% of the students
with at least 75% level of proficiency shall be
able to:
1. identify the functions of nouns;
2. write sentences using the function of nouns
and
3. create a paragraph using the function of
nouns.
Before we startour lesson, let’s first have an activity.
We will call this activity “A Chain of Words”. In this
activity, I will give you a letter and you have to think of
a noun that starts with that letter. For example, I gave
you letter “e”, the word that you should give me
should be a word like “elephant”. Next, the person
next to you will give a noun that starts with the last
letter of the first word given. The last letter of the
word elephant is “t”, so you must think of a noun that
starts with “t” like “train”. Then, the cycle continues,
the next person will think of a noun that starts with
the last letter of the previous word.
Motivation
So, let’s nowproceed to the discussion of our new
lesson.
Our lesson for today is all about the different
functions of nouns. Nouns can function as a
subject, an object (object of the preposition, direct
object, indirect object), and a subject complement
in a sentence.
