VMware Tools & Time After deployment of a VA the version of VMware Tools on the VA must be upgraded to the latest version From the Options tab of the VMware Tools Control Panel, click the Update button. Select Automatic VMware Tools Upgrade. Click Upgrade. Consider the time zone and configure accordingly Additionally NTP must be setup to ensure there is no clock skew

- 9. Obtain VMServer 2.0 (1) http://www.vmware.com/freedownload/login.php?product=server20 Enter registration details and email address to receive the (essential) license activation codes
- 10. Obtain VMServer 2.0 (2) Click continue, after providing name and email address Will be asked for more details and most importantly about how many license keys you require to install VMServer on Windows and/or Linux Choose at least one Windows License then click register
- 11. Obtain VMServer 2.0 (3) Click on the link to download VMServer 2 Download is ~600MB so it might take a while depending on your connection Check your email for the activation link to access License key(s) Check spam filter
- 12. VMServer Installation (1) Double Click on the downloaded VMware-server Application file After a few minutes you will be prompted to continue
- 13. VMServer 2.0 Installation (2) Click next, accept the license agreement and click next again
- 14. VMServer 2.0 Installation (3) Click Next when asked the installation location
- 15. VMServer 2.0 Installation (4) Important: Please make a note of the virtual machine storage path Change if needed You may want to deselect “Allow virtual machines to start and stop automatically” Click Next

- 22. Install 7-Zip Click on Install Click Finish to complete installation
- 23. Expand the VA zip file Right click on the downloaded VA zip file and click on 7-Zip and then on Extract files Change the location that the zip file will be extracted to the virtual machine storage path as per the step in VMServer 2.0 Installation Part 4
- 24. Add VA to VMServer (1) Click Yes to proceed and to ignore the site security message Enter the same Login name and password to you used to log into the PC Open VMware Server Console by clicking the desktop icon:
- 25. Add VA to VMServer (2) You will now see the VMware Infrastructure Web Access console
- 26. Add VA to VMServer (3) Click on “Add Virtual Machine to Inventory” in the Commands section on the right hand side Click on “standard” in the Inventory section
- 27. Add VA to VMServer (4) Back in the inventory section, click on the VA icon and wait for the section to load on the right then click on the green triangle play button
- 28. Add VA to VMServer (5) If you receive the message below regarding available memory, choose Reduce Memory and click OK
- 29. Add VA to VMServer (6) You will see the IP address of the VA on the right hand side in the Status section
