What are audio visual aids?
• According to Burton “Those sensory objects
or images which initiate or stimulate and
reinforce learning”
• Audio Visual Aids are also called instructional
material.
• These aids include print and non print media,
projected and non projected media, hardware
and software.
• These includes pictures, slides, radios,
videos, models, maps, sounds and other
audio visual tools.
Significance of AV aids
• These aids accelerate the teaching learning
activity in number of ways by which teaching
become more effective and learning becomes
easier and more lasting.
• These devices used to make the learning
experience more concrete, more realistic and
more dynamic.
• All such aids make the knowledge clear to us
through our senses.
Continued…
• All these learning material make the
learning situations as real as possible and
give us firsthand knowledge.
• These aids helps the learner in
remembering the things in a better way.
Objectives of audio visual aids
• To enhance teachers skills which help to
make teaching-learning process effective.
• Make learners active in the classroom.
• Communicate them according to their
capabilities.
• Develop lesson plan and build interest.
• To make students good observer.
Continued…
• Develop easy and understandable learning
material.
• Follow child cornered learning process.
• Involve intimation in objectives.
• To create interest in different groups
• To make teaching process more effective
verbal description only are not enough for
learners to remember and understand.
Visualization of objects especially in science
and technology is important.
Types of Audio-Visual aids
1. Audio aids
2. Visual aids
3. Audio-Visual aids
AUDIO AIDS
Audio Aids
• Any instructional device that can be heard
• Such type of aids involve sense of hearing.
• Audio teaching aids can be effective in
language classes.
• Example: speakers, mp3 players, radio,
tape recorder, headphones
Visual Aids
• Aids which use sense of vision are called
Visual aids.
• For example :- models, actual objects, charts,
pictures, maps, flash cards , slides &
overhead projector etc.
Continued…
• Through the direct stimulation of vision
the students could learn faster and more
efficient.
• Show them pictures related to the topic.
• The memory can last for a longer period.
• This method is better for listening
comprehension and also in scientific
experiments
Advantages of visual aids
• The primary advantage is clarity
• Interest generated by visual aids is strong
when used well, visual aids can almost
enhance ever aspect of a speech.
• Visual aids stay with us for a longer time
then verbal.
Continued…
• Visual aids are important in education system.
• Such aids are used in classrooms to encourage
students learning process and make it easier
and interesting.
• These aids are the best tools for making
teaching effective and the best dissemination of
knowledge.
Audiovisual Aids
• examples are LCD project, Film projector,
TV, Computer, VCD player, Virtual
Classroom, Multimedia etc.
Continued…
• By audio-visual aids, we usually mean the
most modern or the most recently use of
these methods (films, filmstrips, radio and
television).
• the global use of audio-visual aids always
gives the best results.
Visual aids arouse the interest of learners
and help the teachers to explain the concepts
easily.
Principles of audio visual aids
• They should be meaningful and purposeful
• They should be simple
• They should be accurate in every respect
• They should be interesting and motivating
• They should be completely relevant to the
topic to fulfill the desired learning objectives
Advantages of audio visual aids
• Every individual has the tendency to forget.
Proper use of visual aids helps to retain more
concept permanently.
• Students can study well when they are inspired
properly through different visual aids.
• AV aids develop the knowledge .
• Visual aids grow the accurate image when the
students see and hear properly.
Continued…
• Visual aids create the environment of interest
for the students.
• Visual aids helps to increase the vocabulary of
the students.
• Visual aids helps the teacher to get sometime
and make learning permanent.
• Visual aids provide direct experience to the
students.
• It minimize the time (for teacher) to present
information.
• It brings the child towards active learning
• We need to use AV aids in all the subjects to
make educational environment better.
Continued…
Continued…
• In this method a specific topic is delivered to
the audience through video or CD player.
• This method is better for listening
comprehension and also in scientific
experiments
Knowledge without implementation is like
rubbish in dustbin. so it is up to you how you
utilize it……..
