Advert deconstruction

All Time Low – Nothing Personal
• The album has a cartoon feel to it with a
bright yellow felt tip outline around the
band. The band’s name is boldly written in
big letters across the top of the advert, again
it looks like it’s been coloured in felt tip pen.

• There are a few little doodles including a
skull and cross bones and stars, this could
show the immaturity and age of the band
and also the age of the bands audience. The
doodles and felt tip pens may appeal to
teenagers as they are still used in their lives
    at school or college

• The majority of the advert is a photo of the
band together; this would be a record label
    demand to increase promotion.

• Underneath the band name it says the bands
MySpace page address, this could be used
for promoting. There is also a photo of the
record label that the band uses.
• The majority of the advert is a photo of the band
together; this would be a record label demand to
    increase promotion.

• The band members show their alternative rock
genre through their appearance, they are all in
black skinny jeans, 3 of them in black tops and
one in a purple checked shirt with a grey hoodie,
wearing black is a well-known trait of alternative
rock. Also three of the four band members have
quite long styled messy hair; the messy hair is
also a known trait of alternative rock.

• There is a photo of the album cover on the left
hand side; this could be a record label demand
towards promotion, so that the audience know
what the album looks like when they come to
buy it, as on the album there are no photos of
the band members. The photo of the album
shows that they are sticking with a theme
though, they are using quite bland background
colours but including doodles, they have also
continued with the school/college theme by
having pencils and exercise books and rulers on
    the album.
