What do you think about when someone says 'Agriculture'? I think about all the hard working men
and women who have jobs associated with agriculture. For example, veterinarians, agronomists,
wildlife inspectors, and even my ag teacher. Today, I have interviewed my cousin, Sarah Marx, to
help build interest for myself as well as others in agriculture. Sarah grew up in Beemer, Nebraska.
So, agriculture has been an interest of her's her entire life. Sarah was apart of the Beemer Dreemers
4–H club for 12 years where she showed rabbits and helped with the other livestock shows. Now,
Sarah lives on a farm in Wisner, Nebraska where she has a horse training camp. She is also one of
the Beemer Dreemers club leaders.

For one, I love being able to communicate with people. If you can communicate well, this might be
a job to consider. Another aspect I liked was accounting. I'm a great math student and to be able to
incorporate math with my career will be great. Another aspect I like is being able to work in the
agriculture atmosphere. I've been in 4–H for 9 years now and this is my first year of participating in
FFA. As a freshman in high school, I love looking at all of my options for my future. Agriculture has
been one of my career options since 7th grade. As I learn more and more about agriculture and how
it plays a very important part in the world, my interest grows stronger and stronger.
To prepare for this career, I would have to have lots of extra classes, be certified with all Microsoft
programs, be a certified office tech, have lots of experience, and communication skills. I am

Agriculture plays an important role in India. With an immense amount land, rich soils, and multiple
climates agriculture is one of the most important economies in India. The word agriculture is
defined as the science or practice of farming, including cultivation of the soil for the growing of
crops and the rearing of animals to provide food and other products. Agriculture and farming in
India are similar to those around the world. They too farm based off of culture, climate, and seasons.
The main types of agriculture in India include shifting agriculture, subsistence agriculture, extensive

Windsor, VA. was visited. Chris was the person who toured the group through the facilities. He
mentioned that, in early years, the family was in the business of grains, but they decided to search
for different horizons and built something different than grain productions. They were tired of
producing grains, and in the process of looking for a different crops and opportunities they decided
to start cotton production in Virginia in 1991, later, in 1992, the Commonwealth Cotton Gin
company was started, and currently they possess two facilities, that although in some period one
facility was not running, four years ago, they started to run it again.
The company perform four main activities, the first one is ginning, which consist in separate the
seed from the cotton fiber with the use of a machine, and after that, marketing is an important
service provided to their customers, because the company act as a binding point between the

Farmers can receive loan money for anything including cars, restaurants, and homes, as long as they

President Wilson recommended a system of agricultural banks to provide credit to meet the needs of
farmers. Congress responded with the Federal Farm Loan Act of 1916. During the Great Depression,
farmers were unable to pay the expenses they were faced with and many of them left their farms in
defeat. Congress stepped in by passing the Emergency Farm Mortgage Act of 1933 and the Farm
Credit Act of 1933. The Farm Credit Act completely established the Farm Credit System. The FCS
was under the administration of the Farm Credit Administration. All Government capital to the FCS

the per capita income of a nation and the size of its rural population. Though a large part of the total
population is working and living in rural areas and is engaged in primary activities especially
farming, the share of agriculture in gross domestic product has been minimal which is the main
reason behind the low income generation in countries with large rural population. This phenomenon

In most of the less developed and developing countries the people involved in agriculture mostly
belong to the lower strata of the society. They are looked down upon and so is their profession
consequently agriculture is not seen as an attractive profession. This biasness takes various forms
out of which the, one which holds utmost importance for the large and small rural cultivators is the
inadequate provision of infrastructure and social overhead capital: crop storage facilities, health
clinics and schools, farm extension services, agricultural research, irrigation canals and farm credit
programs are deficient, if they exist at all. It means that for agricultural sector in general and small

Ancient people set a building block that we today still build upon. There are many ways ancient
people have done this, such as developing spoken language and inventing farming/agriculture. I
think that farming and agriculture had the biggest impact of all on society, from ancient to modern

Industrial agriculture endangers soil health because it depends on heavy machinery that compacts

Hey today I will be talking about why I choose sustainable Agriculture and go against Traditional
Agriculture. First I'll give you the definition or what traditional and sustainable agriculture
are.Traditional Agriculture is an old fashion way of agriculture. Sustainable Agriculture is a newer
way. Also the definition for Agriculture: is a way of farming and practicing a way of producing wool
or food. The reason that I choose Sustainable is because it doesn't damage a lot like traditional

A way that Traditional agriculture damages the environment is by killing the topsoil and subsoil.
Also it kills pest that are not harmful for the crops. An example would be ladybugs who are affected

that's how traditional affects them. Also traditional agriculture uses a lot of chemicals.It also affects
different species of birds. It is also harder to harvest than sustainable. It can even affect us, when the
level is high on the plants the higher is the chance of getting ill , like cancer. So people who live
close to these farm lands that use traditional agriculture have a chance of having cancer going
through their family generations.
Now sustainable has more advantages. Some advantages that it has is that it produces healthy crops.

Prior to the advent and isolation of specific chemical compounds that could keep away pests and
disease while stimulating plant growth, all agriculture would have been "organic." It is therefore
erroneous to speak of the history of organic farming as distinct from agricultural history in general.
The history of chemical–dependent agro–business, on the other hand, can be discussed from a
historical perspective. The term organic is used mainly in opposition to the overuse and misuse of
toxic chemical compounds such as herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers. These chemicals seep into
groundwater, thereby creating long–term and potentially irreversible public health problems. There
are also "unknown risks" associated with the use of genetically–modified organisms in agriculture
(Delate, n.d.).
According to Delate (n.d.), the use of petroleum–based and other potentially harmful chemical
fertilizers and pesticides began after World War II. The military technologies used to develop
chemical weapons could be applied to other industries, including agriculture. "For example,
ammonium nitrate used for munitions during WW II evolved into ammonium nitrate fertilizer;
organophosphate nerve gas production led to the development of powerful insecticides," (Delate,

The maximum sustainable yield is usually higher than the optimum sustainable yield.
This logistic model of growth is produced by a population introduced to a new habitat or with very
poor numbers going through a lag phase of slow growth at first. Once it reaches a foothold
population it will go through a rapid growth rate that will start to level off once the species

As the growth rate of the population steadily increases, a surge in consumption of commodities will
additionally increase . One basic commodity that will have an escalated demand would be food.
Innovation within technology has allowed the process of mass production of goods. Production of
goods on a large scale allows farmers to meet the needs of the majority of consumers capitalizing on
market share. In order to meet consumers forever growing needs, land must be acquired in order to
generate new farms for agriculture. Although the needs of consumers are being meet, the act of mass
production of agricultural is contributing to the destruction of our planet. Consumers need to be
aware of the repercussions of mass production on a global scale, in order to create a sustainable
outcome while still continuing to let needs be met. With contributing factors of global warming , the
population needs to be informed of harmful processes through agricultural farming such as
deforestation, livestock, and crop emissions.

is an incredibly resource intensive process. As the world's population continues to increase the
demand for animal meat and animal bi–products will too. This raises concerns and especially in the
United States, one of the world highest concentration for animal husbandry and agribusiness. The
focus of this investigation is to determine whether animal husbandry in Texas is sustainable in
relation to fresh water use bio–contamination issues. Social views on the increase of waste due to
meat consumption are suppressed by the government. This creates distrust amongst society and as
food chains continue to grow and promote a high–protein meat based diet, they will expand as
corporation–driven empires that run the government. As the population grows, the demand for meat
does too and therefore an increase in animal waste will also rise the United States Government

Agriculture is harming the quality of groundwater, the amount of nitrogen applied to the soil, and
causing runoff to go into the ocean . Agriculture is a human activity; it harms the carbon cycle and
the water cycle. "Modern agricultural practices have started the process of agricultural pollution.
This process causes the degradation of the ecosystem, land, and environment due to the modern day

question, "Do you talk to cows?" Agriculture is more than livestock animals and living on a farm.
Majoring in agriculture is very diverse with multiple job opportunities, and I know this from

At Sumrall High School, the counselors and administration know the importance of agricultural
education. The counselors work with students to accommodate a desire to take these ag courses.
However, this can not be said for all schools. Often in the public school system, administration is
more worried about students taking and passing required courses and state test. If all administration
and counselors would understand that not all students choose to take the path of college. Many

form of modern framing which uses techno scientific, economic and political methods to produce
their product. The products like crops, fish, livestock, and egg consumed by us. Most of the United
States today practice intensive agriculture. That is, farms are often run like factories, and cultivated
using large amounts of labour and capital. Large amount of labour includes Fertilizer, insecticides,
fungicides and herbicides for growing crops. And capital is most important for maintaining high–

GMOs (genetically modified organisms) are organism that had specific changes in their DNA using
the method of genetic engineering. GMOs are applied on livestock, poultry and plant seeds.
However GMO seeds are highly commercialized in modern industrial agriculture because it
prevents from rotten farms and uses fewer pesticides. But in the bad point this genetic engineering
reduces the ability of seeds to grow again, therefor framers will have to buy new seeds every time
they farm. This resulted in big profit for seed selling companies. Since then GM foods are widely
spread in United States and is still spreading in third world. This negative new science also creates

Agriculture is one of the key factors that shape your everyday life. Your time, money, nutrition, and
life is dependent on agriculture. Food can be gathered by either hunting for it or producing it,
however, which method is healthier for human civilization? Some people believe that producing
foods and domesticating animals (agriculture in Neolithic Revolution) is more beneficial to humans.
However, the reasonings for which hunting and gathering is healthier overall are abundant. Hunting
and gathering (way of getting food in the Paleolithic Era) supplies a better and more varied amount
of nutrients, less vulnerability to famine and disease, and good leisure time with less work.

Those perks offered vast culture, better hospitality, more farms and more produce. However, as
hunting and gathering consists of many different food sources rather than just farming a lot of select
foods, relying only on select produced food leaves you more vulnerable to famine and disease. The
reasoning behind this is if your crops fail, then you probably won't have another source of food
because most farmers did not have the skillsets or physical ability for hunting and gathering. An
example of a catastrophic outcome with producing food could be the Great Famine in Ireland, where
potatoes became infested and became unable to eat which triggered the famine due to farmers being
so dependent on potatoes. As previously stated, farming brings more people together in certain
areas. With having a higher population, disease is common due to the ease of spread. The risks that
farming takes is too deadly and dependent compared to hunting as it mostly depends on
