This document summarizes a research study that examined the relationships between communication, trust, and individual performance in globally distributed teams. The study explored three models: an additive model where communication and trust independently predict performance, an interaction model where communication and trust interact to predict performance, and a mediation model where trust mediates the relationship between communication and performance. Data was collected from 111 students in US-Norway and US-Denmark teams. Results supported the mediation model, showing that high communication leads to higher trust which then leads to better individual performance. The interaction model showed an anomalous interaction effect that differed for high and low trust individuals.
