This document summarizes a web-based tool called the Algal Functional Annotation Tool that was developed to functionally annotate and interpret large lists of genes from algal genomes. The tool integrates annotation data from multiple databases and provides statistical analysis to identify enriched functional terms within gene lists. It allows users to visualize genes on KEGG pathway maps and contains expression data from Chlamydomonas reinhardtii experiments to aid in interpreting gene functions. The tool aims to facilitate genomic analysis for algal species like C. reinhardtii by combining annotation data and expression profiles into a single portal.
