This study examines the effectuation framework as a financing practice for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Southwestern Nigeria, highlighting how local entrepreneurs utilize internal financing to navigate the challenges posed by formal financial institutions. Using a mixed-method approach, the research finds a strong reliance on internal funding and effectuation logics among entrepreneurs to achieve their business objectives. The study emphasizes the importance of recognizing alternative financing approaches that align with the cultural practices of local SMEs in developing contexts.
