This document provides an overview of analytical research methods. It defines research as a systematic effort to gain new knowledge through objective methods. The objectives of research are to gain insights, accurately portray characteristics of groups, and analyze relationships between variables. Research methodology refers to how research problems are solved systematically, while research methods are the specific techniques used. Quantitative methods use experimental approaches while qualitative methods use techniques like interviews. Analytical research involves in-depth study and evaluation of existing information to explain complex phenomena and test hypotheses. The analytical method is then described as a 9-step process combining the scientific method and formal processes to solve problems.
INTRODUCTION
• Research isthe Search for Knowledge
• It is an Art of Scientific Investigation
• According to Redman and Mory, Research is a
“Systematized effort to gain new knowledge”
• Research is an original addition to the available
knowledge, which contributes to it’s further
advancement
• In sum, Research is the search for knowledge,
using objective and systematic methods to find
solution to a problem
3.
OBJECTIVE
• To gainfamiliarity with new insights into a
phenomenon
• To accurately portray the characteristics of a
particular individual, group, or a situation
• To analyze the frequency with which
something occurs
• To examine the Hypothesis of a casual
relationship between two variables
4.
RESEARCH METHODS VsRESEARCH
METHODOLOGY
• Research Methods are the methods that the
researcher adopts for conducting the research
Studies
• Research Methodology is the way in which
research problems are solved systematically. It
is the Science of studying how research is
conducted Scientifically
5.
QUANTITATIVE APPROCH Vs
QUALITATIVEAPPROACH
• Quantitative Approach(Uses experimental,
inferential and simulation approaches to
research)
• Qualitative Approach(Uses techniques like in-
depth interview, focus group interviews)
6.
ANALYTICAL RESEARCH
• THERESEARCHER HAS TO USE FACTS OR
INFORMATION ALREADY AVAILABLE, & ANALYZE
THEM TO MAKE A CRITICAL EVALUATION OF THE
MATERIAL.
• IT INVOLVES THE IN-DEPTH STUDY & EVALUATION
OF AVAILABLE INFORMATION IN AN ATTEMPT TO
EXPLAIN COMPLEX PHENOMENON.
• IT CONCERNED WITH TESTING HYPOTHESIS &
SPECIFYING & INTERPRETING RELATIOSHIPS, BY
ANALYZING THE FACTS OR INFORMATION
ALREADY AVAILABLE.
7.
ANALYTICAL METHOD
• TheAnalytical Method is a
generic process combining the power of
the Scientific Method with the use of formal
process to solve any type of problem. It has
nine steps
8.
STEPS
• 1. Identifythe problem to solve.
• 2. Choose an appropriate process. (THE KEY STEP)
• 3. Use the process to hypothesize analysis or solution
elements.
• 4. Design an experiment(s) to test the hypothesis.
• 5. Perform the experiment(s).
• 6. Accept, reject, or modify the hypothesis.
• 7. Repeat steps 3, 4, 5, and 6 until the hypothesis is
accepted.
• 8. Implement the solution.
• 9. Continuously improve the process as opportunities arise.
9.
IMPORTANCE
• Use ofthe Analytical Method is critical to
solving the sustainability problem because it
appears that current processes are
inadequate. They are intuitive, simple, and
based on how activists approach everyday
problems.

ANALYTICAL RESEARCH PAPER
•An analytic paper demands that you perform
many tasks: formulate a thesis, gather
sources, evaluate them, use them to support
your original ideas and meticulously
document everything you've done.
