Welcome to Calvary
June 29, 2014
Third Sunday After Pentecost
“He who receives you receives Me,
and he who receives Me receives Him
who sent Me. He who receives a
prophet in the name of a prophet
shall receive a prophet's reward. And
he who receives a righteous man in
the name of a righteous man shall
receive a righteous man's reward.”
Matthew 10:132-33
Where was John the Baptist when Jesus began his
ministry of preaching and teaching? ___________

There are Bibles in the pew racks
Write your answer and your name on a piece of paper and
drop it in the Bible Quiz box in the rear of the sanctuary. A

might even get a surprise!

Season of Thanks
During the season of Pentecost, Calvary will be giving thanks for its past;
its present; its future. We will be thanking groups and individuals and
most of all God for the blessings bestowed on Calvary Evangelical
Lutheran Church. We are calling this a Season of Thanks!
During this Season of Thanks each of us, daily, need to remember things
and people for which and whom we are thankful. Even on those days
when everything seems to be falling apart… we can be thankful that
God is there to catch us and protect us …. just like God always does!
Log on to www.clc-c.org
to connect to Calvary’s
Website.
Did You Know?
You can setup automatic giving on-line
using a credit card or debit card. Log
on to our website, www.clc-c.org to set
it up. See Sue Gearhart for details. She
can explain the process in more detail
and walk you through it.
Pentecost starts the day after Easter. When does
Pentecost end? The day before Advent, or Christ
the King Sunday
Last week’s Bible Quiz answer

Reminder – Don’t Forget
Your Name Tag
Not everyone remembers your name. We encourage
everyone to wear their name tags. It helps not only
our visitors, but all of us to put a name to a face.
Stewardship
The new approach to stewardship is not
primarily about paying the congregation’s
bills. Instead stewardship is about how the
congregation together can do God’s work. It
is about how the congregation can together
live out God’s call to love God and our
neighbors. Stewardship is directly tied to
discipleship. It is no longer about the
congregation’s need to receive, but about
the giver’s need to give. Stewardship is a
way of life. It is not just about what is given
to the congregation, but about how
generous we are with all that God has
entrusted to our care both inside and
outside of the church walls and in our
homes.
