Mission of the Hospitals Our first priority is always safe, excellent care for our patients . To meet our mission, we set specific targets for: clinical excellence patient and staff satisfaction financial strength
Safety Initiatives for 2009 For year 2009, our safety priorities are: Reduce the number of codes outside the ICU Reduction in cases of ventilator-associated pneumonia Reduce infections associated with central line use Reduce “pressure ulcers” Reduce falls, especially those resulting in injury
One Key Tool for 2009 We’ll be using a “failure mode and effect analysis” to minimize the risk of complications from central line utilization. This performance improvement team is now focused on protocols for the selection, use and discontinuation of central lines.
Ask Your Manager... How are the hospitals doing on each targeted measure for clinical excellence, patient and staff satisfaction and financial strength? What is my work area’s target related to patient safety? And what is my role? How are we doing?
