Academic discipline or field of study An academic discipline, or field of study, is a branch of knowledge which is taught and researched at the college or university level. Computer literacy can also refer to the comfort level someone has with using computer programs and other applications that are associated with computers. Another valuable component of computer literacy knows how computers work and operate. Computer Literacy in academics Computers are also a part of education. Computers are used in Academics for many applications such as writing papers or searching the Internet for information. Computer skills are also a subject being specifically taught in many academics. The dramatic increase in the use of computer-aided instruction in higher education has come to the point that the use of a computer for a range of learning tasks is now a part of a student's basic learning toolkit, as much as taking notes or reading texts.
