Our data access is
restricted based on
geopolitical boundaries. I
can’t use the public cloud.
Maybe we can put
development and test
environments in the cloud,
and prove the concept for
our more complex
systems.
I know cloud providers
have security as a top
priority, so our business
can focus on value add.

 Federal, national and global security standards
compliant
 Certified through recognized security bodies
 Oracle Cloud: we manage, On-premise: you do
 Industry and governmental-specific data centers
 Security software and Identity Management
 Role management, virtual databases, encryption
 All included in Oracle Cloud, on-premise you
manage
 On-premise sometimes necessitated by industry
of geography
Consideration: Infrastructure Ownership
88% of IT Executives believe cloud solutions
provide a better utilization of their
resources, lowering their TCO.

Consideration: IT Architecture Ownership

I need granular control over
our hardware and software
components. My mission-critical
apps require it.
We DO own a lot of our
technology stack. But I
wonder if it would save
money to offload some
infrastructure or
software costs.
Our business value
isn’t in IT. We need to
operate lean and agile,
so cloud services are
the way to go for us.

Consideration: Availability
50% of apps in the cloud are for core
business and sales. Always-on
availability of a cloud solution is now
mission-critical.

I want to keep our SLA
level at 99.999% or higher.
With a public cloud, I can’t
influence that to my
satisfaction.
Can we use a cloud
provider to achieve more
efficient redundancy
across our many data
centers?
Many cloud providers
offer 99.95% or higher
availability. That’s “good
enough” for our business,
and we can’t afford to
invest further.

I can’t use the public cloud. Maybe we can put development and test environments in the cloud, and prove the concept for our more complex systems. I know cloud providers have security as a top priority, so our business can focus on value add.

  • 16. Consideration: IT Architecture Ownership Copyright © 2014 Oracle and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved. | I need granular control over our hardware and software components. My mission-critical apps require it. We DO own a lot of our technology stack. But I wonder if it would save money to offload some infrastructure or software costs. Our business value isn’t in IT. We need to operate lean and agile, so cloud services are the way to go for us.

  • 19. Consideration: High Availability/SLAs Copyright © 2014 Oracle and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved. | I want to keep our SLA level at 99.999% or higher. With a public cloud, I can’t influence that to my satisfaction. Can we use a cloud provider to achieve more efficient redundancy across our many data centers? Many cloud providers offer 99.95% or higher availability. That’s “good enough” for our business, and we can’t afford to invest further.
