  1. Windows onNew York – A COVID-19 response to providing public access to museum collections while the museum (and the world) was shut down. Ran from June 2020 to May 2021 when the museum reopened it’s doors to the public. 2. The New York State Museum is excited to present a new outdoor experience that can be enjoyed while social distancing during our closure. ART’s mission is to support and improve the Albany County Helderberg-Hudson Rail Trail by creating public works of art along the Rail Trail. These unique art installations encourage local and regional visitors of varying ages and physical abilities to enjoy this amenity, both increasing the diversity of trail users and benefiting the local economy.In addition to bringing public works of art to the Rail Trail, ART also hosts community events including the annual Chalk the Walk every September. ART recently hosted a Look & Learn talk and plans to host more such events in the future so check back here regularly to stay up to date on happenings! Through creative placemaking, the project will unify the area graphically, revitalize and beautify the area, encourage more pedestrian activity, and serve as a backdrop to activities that take place at the adjacent basketball courts and other open spaces.   Mission Albany Barn isdedicated to providing a sustainable creative arts incubator and community arts center in Arbor Hill – a place for artists to live, work and inspire. Vision Community renaissance catalyzed through creative collaboration. Project Overview Albany Barn, the Albany Housing Authority and the City of Albany partnered to redevelop the former St. Joseph’s Academy, an abandoned school in the heart of Albany’s Arbor Hill neighborhood into 22 low-cost live/work residences and a 13,000+ square ft creative arts incubator and program space called The Barn. History Albany Barn evolved from Rock2Rebuild™, a grassroots production group established to create events benefiting important causes while creating opportunities for local creative talent. Rock2Rebuild staged several major multimedia events and founded an ongoing acoustic concert series in the Children’s Hospital at Albany Medical Center featuring capital region artists. Rock2Rebuild’s first undertaking to raise funds for children and families devastated by the 2004 South Asian tsunami disaster attracted 2,000 people, raised over $26,000, and was voted one of the year’s three “Best Concerts” in the Albany Times Union “2005 Readers Poll,” along with shows by top international touring acts Green Day and the Dave Matthews Band. Since opening our Stage 1 Gallery in 2009 and The Barn in 2014, we have worked to create and strengthen opportunities for local artists to execute passion projects and achieve their professional goals. With the addition of Electric City Barn in 2018, our performance and maker space located at 400 Craig Street in Schenectady, we have only strengthened our mission to create diverse artistic opportunities and professional development services for artists.
