The study investigates the use of industrial by-products, such as steel slag, scrap tire shreds, and rice husks, as alternative materials in permeable reactive barriers (PRBs) for treating landfill leachate. Laboratory experiments demonstrated that these materials can effectively reduce leachate contaminant concentrations, offering a low-cost and sustainable solution for industrial waste management. The findings suggest a significant potential for utilizing these industrial by-products in environmental remediation, supporting innovation in leachate treatment technology.
