Hitlers Beginning
•   Lebensraum- the territory that a state or
    nation believes is needed for its natural
    development,

•   Anschluss- Hitler forced the chancellor of
    Austria to resign. the new chancellor was
    pro-Nazi

•   The main causes of World War II were
    nationalistic tensions, unresolved issues,
    and resentments resulting from the World
    War I and the interwar period in Europe,
    plus the effects of the Great Depression in
    the 1930s.
Hitler-Stalin Pact
 • Signed in 1939
 • They secretly made a pact that they would invade
   poland and split it.

Hitler invaded Russia
against the
agreements, thus
causing a war.
Appeasement
•   “Pacify or placate
    (someone) by acceding to
    their demands”

•   Britain and France gave in
    to Hitler's demands for the
    Sudetenland.
    Czechoslovakia was not
    present at this conference,
    and it should be noted that
    this land contained key
    heavy industries, as well as
    3 million Germans

•   "We have peace in our time"
    -Neville Chamberlain
