The paper evaluates a nine-level modified cascaded H-bridge multilevel inverter (CHB-MLI) using various multi-carrier pulse width modulation (PWM) strategies, highlighting its reduced switch count compared to conventional inverters. This modified topology improves performance by lowering switching losses, costs, and total harmonic distortion while achieving a higher quality output waveform. Various PWM techniques, including phase disposition, phase opposition disposition, alternate phase opposition disposition, and phase shift PWM, are analyzed and compared in terms of their performance parameters.
