Data and Analytics is the technology initiative expected to drive the most IT
investment in 2021, according to the 2021 State of the CIO survey. 86% of
organizations have either already deployed or have data-driven projects on
their roadmaps, up from 68% in 2016
Organizations Build On Previous Data & Analytics Successes: More than half
of survey respondents (55%) say that they have already deployed or are in
the process of implementing data-driven projects. 61% agree that the
pandemic accelerated their organization’s data-driven strategy
The Future of Jobs: Data science and analytics skills will become essential
to every job, especially leadership roles. While 92% of respondents are
“willing” to learn new data skills, only 57% are “extremely” or “very”
enthusiastic to work more with data.

Trend 1: Data and Analytics at the Edge. By 2023, over 50% of the primary
responsibility of data and analytics leaders will comprise data created,
managed and analyzed in edge environments.
Trend 2: Data and Analytics as a Core Business Function. By 2022, over 75% of
centrally organized analytics programs will be replaced by a hybrid
organizational model that shares power with local domain data and analytics
leaders.
Trend 3: Data Fabric is the Foundation. By 2023, AI in the data fabric will be
capable of reducing data quality and data mastering ongoing operations
costs up to 65%.
Trend 4: From Big to Small and Wide Data. By 2025, 70% of organizations will
be compelled to shift their focus from big to small and wide data, providing
more context for analytics and making AI less data hungry.
