POST: PROJECT ACCOUNTANT
JOB LOCATION: Al Lith- Saudi Arabia
REPORTS TO: GM of Engineering & Construction functionally with line reporting to HOD
finance for financial controls
The main focus of the position; To provide strong financial reporting & Project cost accounting
support to the GM/HOD, including being a link between the group of companies and various
business units and finance regarding operational expenditure and costing related to the NewCo.
The role will provide critical support to the strategic and operating divisions through the
development of Project cost accounting, analysis of Finance generated OPEX reports, analysis
and calculation of Project production costs and identification of out of line expenditures. An
integral part of the role will be the development of annual budgets, including the monitoring of
performance against these budgets and reporting of out of line situations to the GM and HOD's.
He will act as a link between Finance Department and operating departments and will seek to
ensure that service providers act as “business partners”, driving a culture of performance
improvement.
He will have a dual reporting role and report functionally to the GM of Engineering &
Construction and will be line responsible to HOD finance for all financial control and reporting
requirements. He will develop and provide operational data which are required for financial
presentations and analysis.
He will work closely across functions and in particular with senior- most management and
Managers within the NewCo directorate.
DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES:
Liaising with:

Assist departmental managers in developing detailed annual individual PROJECT
budgets in accordance with Director/GM Engineering & Construction and Director
Finance requirements.

Analysis of Finance Department generated Opex & Capex reports & preparing
variance analyses
•
Developing a series of monthly analysis reports on Opex/capex performance for
each department.
•
Ensuring that pre-operating expenses, capital projects and capex purchases are
accounted for correctly and that depreciation starts at the appropriate time.

Developing tools, using ERP, to accurately calculate production costs.
Monitoring and advising on the updating of the cost parameters of the ERP system
to reflect the actual cost.
Working with finance and IT to define costing for any new Projects or business lines.
Review inventory levels for spare parts in the warehouse for critical construction
equipment and recommend appropriate stock levels, including reorder levels and
minimum stock levels working closely with Director Supply chain in this respect
Undertake productivity analysis and conduct ongoing process constraint analyses
Report on breakeven points by project & work centers
Analyze capital budgeting requirements and impacts to production costs
Analyze proposed raw material changes in view of the impact to production costs
and GP contribution & suggest and devise cost reduction measures
Development of Intelli-view Business Intelligence reports to support the cost
accounting analysis and KPI reporting process.
Development of a set of accounts for each Project, including farm construction units.
Establish and maintain functioning working relationships with other COMPANY’S
operational units
Have the ability to identify potential enhancement & improvement opportunities
and deliver results to improve the operation incl. multiple options for complex
business problems.

REQUIREMENTS: (MANDATORY OR PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION, I.E.
EDUCATION, LICENSES)

MBA or equivalent in accounting and / or qualified CA/ACMA with minimum 8 years
experience in construction/commercial industry
•
Commercial experience in cost accounting preferably gained in a construction
company environment and including exposure and understanding of ERP systems.
