Goal SettingGoal Setting
““Success is not to be pursued; itSuccess is not to be pursued; it
should be attracted by the personshould be attracted by the person
you become.”you become.” - John Rohn- John Rohn
“The best way to predict the
future is to create it.”
- Peter Drucker
Goal Setting
“Where there is no purpose, abuse is inevitable” - Dr. Myles
Munroe
I. Take a good picture of where you are currently. Fact is a
temporary truth.
II. Where you want to be.
III.Set a vision and goals on how to move from where you are
to where you want to be.
IV. Align your actions with your goals.
Goal Setting Defined
• Goal setting is knowing your destination before you set off.
• Goal setting is the process of identifying and then working
towards your goal.
“If you do not know where you are going then any road will
lead you there.” - J McDaid.
What are goals?
Your goals are your dreams and
desires with deadlines.
They are your desires put on
paper.
They are to you what a blueprint is
to a builder.
Only 3% of people plan out their lives
and on average these people earn
10 times more than those who do
not have goals.
People who have up to date goals
are as much as 3000% more
successful than people who do not
have up to date goals.
Why you need goals?
• To help you determine your priorities.
• To get us organized and stay focused
• To be motivated to make big decisions and pursue our
dreams with passion
• To map out your life just like a tourist needs a map.
• To be in control of our lives.
• To see the long term vision and also give you a short term
motivation and direction.
Why you need goals?
• To give direction to your life in all aspects spiritually,
financially, socially
• Goals give you reason to budget and learn the power of
compound interest
• Goals give you reason to wake up very early in the morning
and go to bed late in the night
• Goals give you reason to value relationships, do exercises
regularly and eat health foods.
An individual with no goals is like a
person who throws the arrow head,
draws a circle around it and then
defines that area as his/her target.
If you do not aim at anything
specifically you will NEVER miss
and that's what most people want.
Nothing in life really just happens,
you need to set goals.
Life rewards those who deserve it
and not just those who wish for
better things to happen.
You to know and be definite about
where you want to be and what you
want to become in life.
Definiteness of purpose is the
starting point of all success stories in
life.
Goals & PersonalValues
• A good goal has to be specific, in line with
your personal values and challenging.
• What are your personal values? What things
do you hold dear to you?
PersonalValues
• Values are moral principles, you hold as an
individual and they help you make decisions.
• Principles you can’t abuse in order to meet
your goals
• Values will in most cases be more important
than your goals.
Law of Attraction
“The law of attraction states that
whatever you value, you attract.”
How to Set Goals.
Always have simple goals and
difficult goals. Motivation vs
Challenge
One of your main goals should be
LEARNING.
Write down your vision and goals in
life, always re-evaluate them as they
keep changing as you mature.
Goals in Summary
Why Write?
• God says so. Habakkuk 2:1-2
• Helps crystallize your thoughts and gives
them more force.
• To create a reference point for your direction
in life.
• It gives you a better chance of remembering
them and also acts as a catalyst of achieving
them.
““What you get is what you set.”What you get is what you set.”
- Denis Waitley- Denis Waitley
Most people today fail in lifeMost people today fail in life
because they fail to plan. Failing tobecause they fail to plan. Failing to
plan is planning to fail.plan is planning to fail.
““Champions are not made in theChampions are not made in the
ring, they are just recognizedring, they are just recognized
there.” - Tolani Brendan Mosweuthere.” - Tolani Brendan Mosweu
Excellence
“We are what we repeatedly
do. Excellence, then, is not
an act, but a habit.”
- Aristotle
Excellence Defined
 Excellence is an attitude generated by a spirit.
 Excellence is defined as highest quality, extreme or
maximum quality.
 Excellent people will conquer what average people will
complain about.
 Excellent people make improvements and not excuses.
• Excellent people to pursue solutions to their obstacles, their
oppositions and challenges.
• Excellence is doing something better than the last time you
did it.
Being Excellent
 Do not settle for average - Always give 100%
 Develop a deep commitment to excellence
 Possess ethics and integrity
 Show genuine respect for one another
 Go the second/extra mile
 Be consistent
 Take time to grow
 Make excellence a lifestyle
 Never compare yourself with others but yourself
 Do not compare your beginnings with someone else’s middle
“Excellence can be attained if you…
care more than others, think wise,
Risk more than others think it is
safe, Dream more than others
think is practical and Expect more
than others think is possible.”
- John L Mason
