It is classified into 10 categories by the WHO based on type of waste such as infectious, sharps, pharmaceutical, etc. The key steps to manage biomedical waste are segregation, collection, storage, transportation and final treatment like incineration depending on the waste category. Proper waste management is important to prevent infections and protect public health.
