Business Intelligence was used by my previous company using Microsoft’s SQL Server Suite mainly SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) for ETL jobs and SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services). The client was a client-vendor relationship management company where they acted like the middlemen between a client and a potential vendor. Because of that, they hosted the data for more than 100 companies. The BI development teams’ job was source the data from all the companies, create SSIS packages, and store it in the database. The reporting team used SSRS to build reports accordingly. The business would make a decision on something, the message would e handed to the development team, who would then work on the ETL process and relay the results to the business. Some of the clients did collaborate on reporting wherein if they liked the report created for one organization, they would ask for the creation of a report with the same features for themselves.
BI should be looked as an option rather than a necessity. It depends on the size, kind and speed of data that is incoming. If any one of them is high, traditional BI tools are ill equipped to deal with them. Organizations must always adapt newer technologies into their operations, but the presence of external factors could cause the to implement BI which still works great for traditional databases. It is important to note that Bi would provide data about the things we ask for. So, if the quality of the requirement is high, the chance of a quality result will be high. It is the people involved in the process that have the highest impact but integration with the technology and processes make it better.
AI will play a vital role in implementation of internet of things. It will increasingly be monitoring and refining business processes which will cause many jobs right now to be extinct and taken over by AI. It is important to always upgrade your skills or lag. More and more personalization will take place in real-time as the technological gets closer to home and the speed of executive increases. Finally, AI will become increasingly useful as data becomes more accurate and readily available although the implementation of this feature will take time due to security concerns.
