This document presents an overview of different types of research design:
Exploratory and conclusive. Exploratory design is used to investigate unclear problems and includes expert surveys, literature reviews, pilot studies, and projective techniques. Conclusive design obtains information to reach conclusions, using descriptive (cross-sectional and longitudinal), causal (pre-experimental, quasi-experimental, true experimental) approaches. Research design is a blueprint that specifies methods and procedures for collecting and analyzing information to address problems that may arise during the research process.
