Most Manipuri people live in the Sylhet district of northeastern Bangladesh, near the border with India. They are of Mongolian descent and speak the Meithei language. Community-based tourism allows locals to invite tourists into their communities to experience their culture and daily lives. This provides income for locals while increasing awareness of their culture for tourists. However, community-based tourism can also potentially exploit locals or cause them to lose parts of their culture if not managed properly. This study aims to explore how to improve and promote community-based tourism among the Manipuri people in a way that benefits the community.
