ANTIBIOTIC THERAPY AND RESISTANCE Capnocytophaga ochracea is susceptible to penicillin, ampicillin, chloramphenicol, clindamycin, tetracycline, third generation cephalosporins, quinolones and metranidazole Rummens et al. 1986 investigated the in vitro activities of antimicrobial agents against Capnocytophaga strains, Foweraker et al. 1990 studied a strain that was resistant to cephalosporins (MICs, ≥16 μg/ml). Roscoe et al. 1992 characterized a membraneassociated low-efficiency cephalosporinase that appears to be similar to the enzyme described by Foweraker et al.
