A career path is a smaller group of jobs within a
career cluster that use similar skills. You can start
in a lower-level job in a career path and, with
more education and experience, move up within
that path. A career path helps you find out how
you might move from one job to another within a
career cluster.

IMPORTANCE
because choosing a career path can help you set professional
goals and develop a strategy for getting where you want to be.
Part of choosing an appropriate career path involves making
an honest self-evaluation of your talents, abilities and interests.
While elements of your path may change over time due to
choice or circumstance, having an overall professional
objective with which to guide yourself will help you make
critical decisions with greater clarity.

Here is a list of external factors that influence our
career choices and how they affect our choices:
Our influences in choosing our career path can make
or break us. Therefore, we have to consider some
choices before we arrive at a definite decision that
we may no longer change throughout our lives.

1.LIFE RULES
We have to think carefully on what life role we would want to play
for the next coming years in our lives.
We were taught in childhood that parents know what is best for us.
But in the long run, our decisions matter most than any other
people’s opinions. We should have the independence in choosing
the career we want to pursue, or else we will be dragging
ourselves into doing the things that we never wanted to do.

3.FINANCIAL CAPACITY
Some people are unfortunate to not have enough financial
capacity to pursue their dream career. Since we come up with
choices, we may go for what is realistic and reasonable for now.
A lot of people have made their passion their career. This can be
made possible if you want to stick with your passion anyway. While
some others set aside their passion and pursue a career far from
the line of their passion. Either way is okay.

Personality is easier to spot, it’s largely static and slow to evolve.
Character, on the other hand, takes longer to discern but is easier
to change. That’s because character is shaped by beliefs, and with
enough effort and motivation, changing one’s perspective and view
of the world can lead to a shift in one’s character.

Tools for identifying personality traits have never been more
plentiful. “In the U.S. alone, there are about 2,500 personality tests”
to choose from (Ash, 2012). Yet, quantity does not imply quality.

The way that we manage ourselves is a central part of being an
effective leader. It is vital to recognise that personal qualities like
self-awareness, self-confidence, self-control, self-knowledge,
personal reflection, resilience and determination are the foundation
of how we behave.

(1) consistency, (2) stability, and (3) individual differences.

THE BUG FIVE, OR OCEAN MODEL
Perhaps the most comprehensive and science-backed,
personality test available is the Big Five

THE BIG FIVE
"The big five structure captures at a broad level of abstraction, the
commonalities among most of the existing systems of personality
description, and provides an integrative descriptive model for
personality research” (John Srivastava, 1999

OCEAN stands for:
1.Openness:
This describes an individual’s love for novelty experiences. Those
with high scores tend to be more creative. Individuals with lower
scores tend to be more conservative and prefer routines.

2. Conscientiousness:
This shows someone's tendency for organization. Those with high
scores are seen as motivated, desciplined, and trustworthy. Lower
scores indicate someone less responsible and more likely to get
distracted.
3. Extroversion:
This factor indicates how cheerful and communicative a person can
be. If someone scores highly in extroversion, they tend to be social
and likely to accomplish their goals. Low scores indicate someone
who is introverted and more submissive to authority.

4. Agreeableness:
This trait describe how someone interacts with those around
them. High scores indicate that someone is warm and friendly.
Those who tend to be more egocentric and suspicious (or even
shy) tend to score lower.
5. Neuroticism
Emotional stability can reveal a lot about the likelihood of
someone developing moodiness and anxiety. High score on
neuroticism indicate someone who is less-assured, and low
scores describe a person who is calm and confident. (Westerhoff,
2008).

Openness:
imagination, feelings, actions, ideas, values, adventurousness,
artistic interests, etc.
Conscientiousness:
order, self-discipline, competence, achievement striving, etc.
Extroversion:
warmth, friendliness, assertiveness, activity level, positive
emotions, etc.
These categories serve as an umbrella that influences
other personality areas such as.

trust, compliance, modesty, altruism, sympathy, cooperation,
etc.
hostility, depression, impulsiveness, anger, vulnerability, self-
consciousness, etc. (ETS, 2012)
