Import Wizard • Easy to use interface, no programming required. • Can load up to 50,000 records. • Prevents duplicates – account names, contact names, contact email address, lead email address. • Can be used to import standard objects like accounts, leads, contacts, solutions and custom objects.
- 4. Web Services API Based Tools • Load any object supported by the API. • Can load more than 50,000 records. • Can be scheduled. • Can run from the command line. • Supports mass delete of multiple objects. • Export data for backup.
- 5. Apex Data Loader • Fully supported SF.com product. • Supports import/export to CSV format. • Can use JDBC. • Can run from the command line. • Supports custom relationships for upsert.
- 6. Wizard versus API – which one? Depends on: • Objects involved. • Number of records. • Scheduling requirement. • Operations performed. • De-duplication needs. • Data sources/destinations involved.

Data Loader • Log files: sd1.log, sd1_out.log. • Order in which objects are loaded - if there is a one-to-many relationship between A and B, the data for A should be loaded before the data for B. • Matching of records can be performed on the basis of Salesforce ID or External ID. When performing an upsert, only single external ID field is used.
- 8. Mass Transfer Tool • Used to transfer multiple objects data from one user to another. • User should have the following permissions: 1. Transfer record permission 2. Edit permissions • Can be used to change the ownership of the record.
