Charles and Ray Eames were an influential husband-and-wife design team. They met in 1940 at the Cranbrook Academy of Art and got married in 1941. Some of their most famous designs included the Organic Chair created with Eero Saarinen in 1940, the DCM Molded Plywood Chair from 1946, and the Lounge Chair with Ottoman from 1956. The Eames influenced contemporary design through their emphasis on experimentation, ergonomics, and manufacturing new materials like molded plywood. They lived and worked from their home and studio in Los Angeles for many years.
