- 1. IMPROVING COMMUNICATION AT CONSULATE HEALTHCARE OF NEW PORT RICHEY.
- 2. OVERVIEW I am currently employed as a certified nursing assistant at Consulate Healthcare in New Port Richey, Florida. Consulate Healthcare is a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility. There is currently an issue with clear and proper communication between all staff at this facility.
- 3. INTRODUCTION Consulate Healthcare of New Port Richey is a 120 bed skilled nursing facility with long term and rehabilitation care. The facility is fully operational twenty four hours a day seven days a week. To operate this type of facility a large number of staff is needed. This can make it difficult to communicate effectively between all shifts.
- 4. Current Situation Communication at our facility is leading to understaffing issues as well as not clear understanding of policy and procedures. - 5. BENEFITS AND RISKS B E N E F I T S • Lower costs associated with scheduling issues due to poor communication • Lower employee turnover rate. • Reduction of safety incidences and state tags R I S K S • May receive fines, tags or even closing of the facility.
- 6. RECOMMENDATION Consulate may face risks if no action is taken to improve communication. Consulate will just have to use money effectively to open up communication in its facility. 1. Post or hand out fliers with important information. 2. Call to clarify important information to charge nurse. 3. Be approachable to discuss concerns form all employees. 4. Clearer representation of an accurate schedule.
