Two  Types  of  FAITH… A living faith is a working, active one.  James 2:18, 22, 24 We’re to be doers of God’s word.  James 1:22 If not working God’s righteousness, not accepted.  Acts 10:34-35; Phil. 2:12-13 Example of works that don’t save.  Romans 10:1-3 A dead faith  is useless .  James 2:17, 20 Only hears without doing…  James 1:22-ff
How a  LIVING FAITH  Is Gained The knowledge of God’s is obtained through God’s Word.  Romans 10:17 Faith is God’s assurance and proof for us.  Hebrews 11:1, 6 Faith loves, obeys, overcomes.  1 John 5:1-5 Desire to do God’s will, then assured to learn it.  John 7:17; Jeremiah 29:13
How a  LIVING FAITH  Is Gained Obedience to God’s will reaps gifts through a working faith! How are you saved? By obeying God’s righteousness!  Romans 1:16-17; cf.Rev. 22:13 This includes…  Hebrews 4:12; 13:20-21 Hearing and believing the gospel. Mark 16:15-16 Repenting of sin. Acts 2:38 Confessing faith in Jesus. Acts 8:37 Baptism into Christ. Romans 6:3-6 Being faithful to God’s commands. Mt. 28:20
How a  LIVING FAITH  Is Gained Obedience to God’s will reaps gifts through a working faith! Holy Spirit is yours and in you when you obey.  Acts 5:32; 1 Corinthians 6:19 Then God’s grace and mercy has been extended and received.  Eph. 2:8; Titus 3:4-8 Saved from past sins because you’re now in Christ.  Ephesians 1:3; Acts 2:38
Maintaining a  LIVING FAITH Keep it active by… Walking in newness of life.  Romans 6:4 Growing in knowledge.  2 Peter 3:18 Exercising thyself to godliness.  1 Timothy 4:7 Discipline yourself in God’s ways.  Colossians 3:10; Romans 12:1-2 Being strong in it!  Romans 4:20 Continuing in it.  Acts 14:22
Maintaining a  LIVING FAITH Keep it active by… Standing fast.  1 Corinthians 16:13 Praying by faith, not doubt.  1 Timothy 2:8 Resisting evil by it.  Ephesians 6:16 Obeying the faith system of Christ.  Romans 16:26; Philippians 3:9 A faith that is working all these commands by love.  Galatians 5:6 Our mindset must be like that found in  1 Peter 1:14-16
Application of a  Living Faith Paul said that the grace given him was not without effect (1 Corinthians 15:10). We too,  ought to allow  the grace of God to have  its effect  in our lives.  Let your faith show itself by what you do! Seek fellowship, pray, and read His word often! Remember and fulfill what Jesus commanded us in Matthew 5:16. Let grace, works and your obedient faith have the proper Biblical balance!  1 Pet. 1:7
