DDR4 SDRAM is the fourth generation of double data rate synchronous dynamic random-access memory, officially released in 2014, providing higher data rate transfer speeds and lower voltage requirements compared to its predecessor DDR3. It supports module capacities of up to 64 GiB and operates at a voltage of 1.2 V, offering significant improvements in performance and efficiency. DDR4 is not compatible with earlier RAM types due to differences in both signaling voltage and physical interface.
