DVDs store large amounts of data like movies using 4.7GB minimum. CDs were originally for sound but adapted for data storage. Tapes have large storage capacities from hundreds of kilobytes to several gigabytes and are cheaper than disks. Hard disks provide quick access to large amounts of data electromagnetically on surfaces. MiniDiscs are smaller than DVDs/CDs and can record or playback music/data on small discs in cartridges.
