                                                  The firm anchored their research on Mumbai.
                                                  As a competition entry, the brief was to
                                                  transform the existing skyline of the city. The
                                                  design team purposefully kept away from the
                                                  utopian concept, believing that the built
                                                  environment can enhance the skyline, not
                                                  necessarily change the social fabric.
                                                         Their design is an insert that would act
                                                  as a catalyst to reinvent the landscape. The
                                                  idea could be an economically sensible way to
                                                  germinate and infuse changes in the city
                                                  which could easily be replicated without
                                                  resulting in a monotonous and ‘top down’
                                                  urban sight. The attempt thus was to trigger a
                                                  better design than the hermetic glass and
                                                  repetition box buildings that ubiquitously dot
                                                  the city’s skyline.
                                                         The design lies open-ended, with twists
                                                  and turns in its form, to allow for rain, sun,
                                                  air and light to filter through the spaces. The
                                                  concrete building would be porous in its
                                                  character, tropical-friendly, providing room
                                                  for vegetable gardens.
